I used a Baldwin base for the spin on conversion but do not have the number handy. It was easy and worked fine. Getting the oil out of your tote and into a container to get rid of it is hard to do without spilling it everywhere.
No it doesn't. I don't have to turn off the 24 volt power. There is nothing on the truck that is 24 volts except the starter and it's only on when I push the start button.
I'm still waiting for you to tell me how the batteries become imbalanced. I was under the impression that the M916A1 is...
Thanks, the battery hold down is repurposed from the radio rack that was in my S-250 shelter, so it is made from mil-spec parts!
You can't see it in the picture, but there is a relay and circuit breaker between the batteries on the 12 volt supply wire. I turn off the 12 volt supply when the...
Here is a picture of my M915A1 battery installation. I was looking at a picture of my M929 batteries and got the type of battery wrong in my first post. You can read the battery type from the picture. The left battery is number one (B- at the top left) and is the 12 volt source, the right...
The M915A1 is all 12 volts except for the starter and provision to power 24 volt trailer lights. Mine also has air conditioning and that is 12 volts too. The 12 volt circuit is powered from the first battery in the series pair. The second battery is only used for starting and powering 24 volt...
If you can come up with a way to load the containers, I would just pay a trucker(s) to deliver them. You are putting a big load on the wrecker and have to try and avoid the DOT problem. One break down (I can't see you getting 7-8K trouble free miles with that kind of load on a wrecker), or...
I put a couple of the 1140 CCA Super Start AGM batteries from Walmart in my M915A1. They were $150 each, have a 5 year replacement, 7 year pro-rated warranty. You have to make a hold down bracket because of the size.
Sounds like a load dump. If the alternator is operating and the output is disconnected from the load, the voltage spikes will eventually cause the regulator to fail. Connection problems can be inside the alternator also, so make sure your connections are tight and correct when you rebuild the...
If you have a modern electric service with a disconnect at the main breaker box or outside by the meter box, just turn it off. If you have an older service with no disconnect (like I have), pull the meter. Cover the opening because the house side connectors will be hot with the generator on if...
Having experienced the DOT5 water in the wheel cylinders myself, I switched to DOT3. I don't care how often you flush a brake system filled with DOT5, you will never get the water out because the bleeder is at the top of the wheel cylinder and the water is at the bottom. If you flush a system...
I've had a similar problem with my M35, but was able to slip the clutch to load and unload the transmission and get it out of gear that way. What I started doing was shifting it into neutral just before I stopped so everything in the transmission was still turning. That solved the problem.
The way these trucks are geared, you have to run the engine at or near red line to go 55 or 60 mph. Any engine running at or near red line is going to use a lot of fuel even when the truck is lightly loaded. If you want to improve the fuel economy, do something to reduce the rpm like gearing...
