Yup, was about to mention TNJ Murray.
Here is a link to one of them: DATA PLATE CARGO BED M35/5TON | Military Vehicles For Sale | Military Trucks For Sale | M35 A2 | 5 Ton | M151 A1 A2 | Surplus Parts - TNJ Murray
If anyone is interested, looking closely at the steering box:
Says "HYDRAPOWER" and "HFB522991"
Doing a quick search online, it seems to be a very common steering box.
We made our own. When looking for a set we could only find people asking $350+ for them. Since we had a new set of rear MV lights sitting around we decided to put them to use. Bought some regular clearance lights and put 24v bulbs into it.
Just got a 2x2 tube of aluminum and bolted the lights...
The ash tray assembly was damaged when we got our M1010, so we started off by removing the door assembly. Then we made a plate that would cover the hole, painted it OD like the dash, then installed a marine-grade 12v plug and CB radio quick-connection points on it.
Our M1010 was already...
Starts first time, every time.
Parts are also very easy to get for it just about anywhere. Runs very well and mated up to that Allison automatic tranny, she easily gets down the road pretty quickly.
Not the best engine for sure, but I prefer it over the multi-fuel.
There are some M35's up here. Imported from the US (yes legally). We have an M35A2 and an M109A3.
Saw it was about to start raining and took a few pictures before it starting coming down. Couldn't read the writing on the side of the unit due to all the paint. Will go out with a scraper next...
Sadly the MLVW's are a rare breed now. When the government sold off the first surplus trucks 3 years ago, we tried to get them road legal (as the government had the titles striked as "off road only"). Well after it hit the newspapers, the government publicly stated it would allow us to get them...
Yes it is.
Didn't mention it to gloat (though I guess that is fun too), but in case it might help someone who wants to try and replicate the same system on another truck.
FYI. Canadian M35's (MLVW) came stock with power steering.
Not sure if it was mentioned in the previous 14 pages, but I thought I would mention it anyways.
Is the same type of truck, but not the exact same truck as pictured before. The yellow safety lights on the box are different. As are a couple of other things.
You have to scan it page by page with a scanner. Scanners have programs that come with them that will put all the pages together into a single .pdf file.
Might be able to get a copy shop to do it for you, but I don't know how much they would charge.
If I get a hold of a manual I will scan it...
Changed the front battery on the M1008. Battery had been replaced in the fall but the person who installed it did not secure the battery properly and while driving it around one day the battery moved and the positive post contacted a bracket. Knew something was not good when I saw smoke coming...
Is an M1028 (dually M1008 ) with an M1031 body on it. Not very common, but they are also not super rare.
I think someone here has one.
I would love to have one.
I would like to come down to the show with my truck, even though some of the people there might be a bit "different". Seen a few programs on tv about it and it looks pretty cool. But sadly it would be one h ell of a ride for me down there in the M109. Though I might come down one day in one of...
Well at least the box is lower to the ground (than if mounted on the truck frame) so it is easier to work on it.
You will get there. Just as long as it is ready before the zombies arrive, you should be good ;-)
I would buy one without the trailer in a heart beat if the price was decent.
I really hope they sell for only $5k each (though I doubt it). If so I would buy at least 2 of them.
