Flat towing an M1009 with an M923

I've towed my M1028A2 before with the transfer case in neutral with no problems. I have had a LO hub malfunction before so be sure to check the front drive shaft is not turning when the truck is moving before you hit the road.

Bane of my existence... CUCV simply doesn't want to be cooperative.

If the vacuum valve at the injection pump is inop and not passing a vacuum signal to the transmission, it will not shift. You can by-pass the valve to test the transmission. Just plug the line from the vacuum pump into the transmission line. The transmission will now shift. Probably straight...

M939 batteries running down while driving operating vehicle

You remove the small pipe plug on top of the alternator at the back near the regulator and use a small screw driver to adjust the voltage. The adjustment procedure has been posted on SS with pictures. Use a DMM or VOM at the batteries or slave connector when setting the voltage. The dash gauge...

    CDL? (in New Hampshire)

You can buy a weighted tag for whatever weight you want. More lbs equals more $. Just don't get caught with more weight than your tag is good for. As for CDL, that is a state by state thing.

    Towing power

Buy a different truck. 50 mph towing up hill with a CUCV doesn't sound bad to me.

    Vin location on M931?

As noted above sometimes the army registration number is on the data plate with the serial number and gets merged on paper work. I had one that way. All that needs to be on the SF-97 is the Cxxx-xxxxxx number that is on the frame. When you apply for the SF-97, just use the frame serial number...

The big trip and a new MV.

If you have NDTs, 30 psi in the rear tires ride better. Run the front tires at the max. pressure because the front axle is near the tire's load limit. Good luck.

Wheel removal for wheel cylinder replacement advise

If the wheel is removed with the thimble and nut still on like your picture shows, you put the pork chop on the nut and tighten the thimble to screw it out of the nut.

Wheel removal for wheel cylinder replacement advise

I would get a Harbor Freight 3/4" impact wrench. They are about $99 but you always go to HF with a 20% off coupon. That has worked for all the trucks I have except my M915A1. They put those lug nuts on tight. I picked up a torque multiplier off Ebay for ~$50 for the stubborn nut/thimbles. If...
