We sure got lucky with the timing and getting the tonnage across the border. Merry Christmas from our G749 family, to yours.

It worked out even better for me. For a few years I'd pop the stack off the truck, back it in to the barn, cover the stack with a pail.......forget, fire up the truck and hear the can hit the roof......then repeat. What a pleasure getting this short stack from down south......not to mention that secret rocket insert that still needs to be put to use. That cold weather should find you some more computer time for pics.......eh?

The paint looks new on there. A clear indication more drivetime is needed. :)

It's been a while since an update. Not a lot of progress on the M135, but I got tired of fighting weather and not having a good place to work on it. I decided to fix that and build a proper place to work on things. The garage/shop is built and I had it made big enough to get the M135's in. I'm working on garage wiring and finishing interior and exterior. Also going to climate control so I can keep going year around. Once the garage is finished, I'll be back to work on the M135.

Looks great! How high and if you don't mind me asking how much for the roll up doors?
I had the same question. He set the bar pretty high for the rest of us. At least we have a place to park our trucks when we visit now.

Goose's tall stack took a 9 foot opening so she wanted a 10 foot garage for door clearance. She got a pole barn. When a short stack showed up NOS from down south my plans for an actual garage went out the door....out the door.

Lumber prices jumped for some magical economic reasons so I'll just enjoy pictures for now. .......unless I decide to spend 170% more than I would have just last year. https://www.ctvnews.ca/canada/what-soaring-lumber-prices-mean-for-your-home-renovation-1.5404001

"""""""""Lumber prices in North America have reached levels unseen before, driving up the costs of home renovations and general contracting services across Canada. Dunn explained that supply and demand has helped increase the price of lumber by roughly 170 per cent in the last six months.

Ian Dunn, president of the Ontario Forest Industries Association (OFIA), says there are a variety of factors amid the COVID-19 pandemic that have contributed to this increase in cost.

"Lumber is ultimately a commodity and it responds to commodity-type pricing," Dunn told CTV's Your Morning on Tuesday."""""""""

The garage dimensions are 25ft wide, 35 feet deep and the ceiling is 10.5 feet tall. The garage doors are each 10 wide and 9.5 tall. I'm not certain on the price of the doors since it was lumped in with the total cost of the garage. They are insulated since I am climate controlling. Lumber prices started climbing fast after I locked in the price. A few weeks later, the costs had increased over 45%, but luckily I avoided that. They've probably climbed even higher now.

Just got back home from a road trip through Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota, Montana, Idaho, Wyoming and Colorado, so it's time to get back to work on the garage. I have a little more wiring to do, insulation, sheetrock, paint, install the mini split and then move in.

We can fit two G749s in at a time if needed.

Sorry brother I know we're using code words but just so everyone can see we're on the down-low.......that's supposed to read Mini Still but we just won't say it on the public forum.

I would have never guessed those doors were that big or weren't square.......thank you. I don't even need to think.

Two years later, another road trip and another update. 1944mb and I drove up to meet m1010plowboy in Canada and bought some parts from him that I needed for my M135. Also got some G749 engine stands to use for the engines in my parts trucks. After many years of talking with plowboy through PM, it was nice to meet in person.

Plowboy, here are pictures of the TM, Technical Bulletin, Lube Order, etc., collection I was telling you I have put together over the years, that pertain to the G749. I'm not sure if I am missing any, but these are all I have managed to find since 2005.

ORD.jpg1.jpg2.jpgFuel.jpgTB.jpgLO.jpg

After picking up parts from you, 1944mb and I went looking at a handful of CCKW/G506 trucks and one M211. I found the elusive middle bumper platform in the back of the M211 and bought it from the owner. It needs a few holes welded up and then put through the blast cabinet, but will be fine.

My garage is finally done and I have moved everything in. The M135 is in the far bay, the air conditioning is on and parts are making their way out of storage. Move in was delayed because my wife wanted to use the garage for my oldest child's high school graduation party. This is a picture of that, so you guys will have to imagine the truck and parts in there.

Garage 2.jpg

Lots of part sorting and prep will be happening now. Something everyone should probably check on their trucks is item GG in this picture. It's only referred to as Bracket Assembly in the Ord 9. Both of mine are cracked at the bend. These cracks were not visible under the paint prior to sandblasting. At the end of next month, I'll be getting these repaired.

Did you get any pics of those G506's? That's one truck on the list of 'shapes I want to touch with sand paper' before I can't move my arms.

Does your child know you built her a graduation hall that you're going to use as a garage? BEautiful work brother, I can't wait to see more.

We arranged for a B-17 to fly over when you were here. Did you get any pictures? lol.

It was crappy Merle didn't come up so I grabbed some pics and put them in the Preservation thread. I saw about 1600 miles in 6 days so if you get a chance to come up again, I took pictures of everything so we can just sit, drink and look at photos of the scenery. The only thing different when you come up again will be the size of our butts.

We could not let you miss the story about stepping out of the camper door on the highway to check tires and hub temps. Did you know the cab or camper door does not unlock when you walk out the side door. Fortunately I left that chin up side window open and managed to drag my fat gut over the fulcrum and 'tip' myself back in. Be sure to carry a key with you if you leave the motorhome.

It was so good to see Ben again. We need a sit down night so I can play guitar and listen to that boy sing. It's always good to invite a bunch of friends when you come north. ALCAN MVPA run MVPA pic, let's do this.

I failed to take pics of the G506 and CCKWs. There was a total of four or five trucks and they were very rough. It would take all of them and you still wouldn't be able to make a complete truck. Unfortunately a person would about have to get them for free to make it worth the effort and cost of hauling them out of where they are at. Maybe Ben took some pics he would post.

This is the picture I managed to take of the B17. It went over so quickly and my phone froze at the wrong time, so I missed a good shot of her. Look close.

Merle is doing better after his heart attack and is back home recovering. I was able to spend a few days with him at the hospital before I had to head home.

My brother came to visit and welded my truck last week. We added some gussets for increased strength.

Changed oil lines on the oil filter housing while doing an oil and filter change.

Happened to find this head bolt tool on eBay in preparation for checking valves, etc.

I'm still pulling parts out of storage and organizing so things can start going back together.
