Another approach for this transformer.....5950-00-600-0840

Parttarget gives good info: https://www.parttarget.com/5950-00-...ption=nsn&originalsearchtext=5950-00-600-0840

I searched on: 60 Hz transformer, 208 volt primary, 124 volt secondary

No exact hits but I did find.... https://platt.com/platt-electric-su...ectionID=7&GroupID=90&CatID=455&SubCatID=2168
That has several 208 volt to 120 volt (NOT 124 volt) transformers. I could not find the VA specification for what we need. I SWAGed 250VA and Eaton has this item: https://platt.com/platt-electric-su...120/Eaton/C0250E3AFB/product.aspx?zpid=312975

Eaton has a nice cross reference page that went into an eternal loop for my searches so I don't know if it works: http://www.cooperindustries.com/content/public/en/resources/cross_reference.html

How do we find the required VA rating for this transformer and will the 120volt vs desired 124volt be a problem?

I would rather just buy an exciter box because the inside of this one looks really bad.
So maybe if their are part numbers cross referenced with the other gens I can find one like the one above. But maybe that one wont work in my unit.

Do you think the mep 006 exicter can be converted to the 004.
If so what would be different.
Kris
I tried to track components down of the 006 exciter when Chainbreaker first reported the find and could not differentiate the transformer or any other contents. Hmmm, might should look in the TM for the 006 and cross reference contents to the 004, compare transformer NSN and go from there. I did not see the 006 generator listed in the 004 transformer's parttarget entry as an end item: just B52s, B1Bs, and a night sight.

No go: Different part numbers / NSNs. The 006 transformer data shows....
33 11 PAFZZ PAOZZ PAFBF PAHZZ D 5950-00-098-9133 TRANSFORMER. CURRENT ABDE EA 1 1
70-1174 (30554)
7001-0011 (93742)
33 11 PAFZZ PAOZZ PAFBF PAHZZ D 5950-00-444-0265 TRANSFORMER, CURRENT CF EA 1 1
70-1178 (30554)
7001-0010 (93742)

Parttarget data for the xformer on the 006: https://www.parttarget.com/5950-00-...ption=nsn&originalsearchtext=5950-00-098-9133

the MEP-004A and MEP-005A are compatible. Nothing else is.

Thanks for the info and you blew me out of the saddle.
I found an 004 exciter for 1800 dollars. I found a 30kw complete machine for 1500 dollars in Houston.
This is mind blowing.

Is it time to fill in the blanks in post #43?? There should be something out there that can successfully replace this transformer. We need to get an electrical guru involved.....

JUst discovered this
One number on the cover and another on the side of the exciter.
Should they both be the same number?
Just maybe a clue that the unit was a swap before or after the gen not running on the gen side.

Zed thank you for your perseverance. I agree.
This has been a mission and I will not stop until this sucker is running.
Kris
You and Guy are the big dogs on this mission. I'm just trying to help with procurement.....and getting more familiar with these TMs. We still need some electrical knowledge....

is this your Excitor? Looks like someone made one from several. I an on the note pad, it's difficult to look at TM's. Will look on the computer later.

now something we should have done before. Look at the part number on the Excitor card. This may be the reason the transformer popped.

Yes stupid me. The cover seems original but the exciter box does not. I will take a pic of the card. The new one came in yesterday so I can compare.
