Anyone sell new data plates for m54's? Looks great.Started rust repair for a repaint. I’ll put a build thread together soon. I have been ordering parts in the meantime and this beauty just showed up. My OCD would not let me install a generic weights and dimensions plate and unable to find a General Products Division plate, Mike Virilli of Big Mike’s Motor Pool had a custom data plate made and I thought I would share it here like a proud father!View attachment 887997

.I was doing my first oil change and fuel filter change and noticed that while the previous owner told me there was no power steering, I do see an hydraulic actuator on the driver side wheel pumping into a horizontal actuator to actuate the right side. It seems to require some kind of fluid and have not had a chance yet to figure how to top it off and with what fluid. Not sure which type of steering I am dealing with.
Suffice to say steering is a bit of a workout.
That looks like the standard air assist unit to me. No fluid required. Just air from the compressor. I will check but it makes sense. When I do parking maneuvers I hear air bleed valves opening and releasing air. I was wondering if it was due to shifting but might have to do with steering back and forth. That looks like the standard air assist unit to me. No fluid required. Just air from the compressor. Only the 5-ton M39-series and M809-series make air noises when shifting the trannyWhen I do parking maneuvers I hear air bleed valves opening and releasing air. I was wondering if it was due to shifting but might have to do with steering back and forth.
