Putting IP back in and Timing Refresher

Morning. So last year I took the whole IP out and “rebuilt” it and changed all the O rings and gasket and everything on the head and the pump. I then put the bridle wire or protection wire on the side fuel shut off and had a nice spring action…. I put the pump back in and the truck ran like a...

Putting IP back in and Timing Refresher

Honestly, you guys want a truck! Come and get it. naw, air pressure works fine. Matter of fact. I verified air pressure going INTO the IP and with the steel lines off, no pressure comes out. I did NOT touch that head. I did not touch that fuel cut off lever. I did not touch a gd thing having to...

Putting IP back in and Timing Refresher

WILL IT START, even SHITTY if I am on the wrong stroke? I Know the IP is correct, but this makes no sense. So I need to know if it would start regardless

Putting IP back in and Timing Refresher

Well, air pressure doesn’t work. I have an IN TANK but fuel pump that isn’t working…. The way the deuce was bobbed and lowered and now have 6” above the tank, and being 40 gallons full I sure as F ain’t draining it and taking it out.

Putting IP back in and Timing Refresher

An air gun into a full tank! Sounds scary ;). Could I do the same but use my weed sprayer? It’s been empty and cleaned so no residue, so the same thing but hand pump it which creates pressure. I did the 3 fuel filter to 2 but I am sure the concept is same….. Pressurize fuel to the filters then...

Putting IP back in and Timing Refresher

I don’t suppose they don’t have an inline crank thingy I can place between (nearer to IP) that will prime it? You Mention another pump…. Which so you recommend? I know on regular rigs there’s a good 1.5/2’ space between tank and bed but mine was bobbed and I have a good 6 inches to work with...

Putting IP back in and Timing Refresher

Alright, so. Based on our prior discussion, along with the rocker arms being correct, the timing mark on the harmonic balancer being correct, the white tooth in the small window on top of the IP dead center and the red tooth by the hydraulic head just one notch off, I feel I got it all right! I...

Removing Inner/Out Flange on Air Compressor…

…. And installing them on a new one. Is this an easy task or am I gonna say bad words and throw things? It looks like it’s gonna be a pain in the butt. Anyone have any pics or videos or instructions for a novice on how to do this?

Putting IP back in and Timing Refresher

Just an update because I didn’t want to just get your help and disappear. Upon taking things apart and all that jazz, I found that one of the 2 longer bolts holding the booster pump onto the injection pump was just spinning around and around so I had to re-thread it, now fits on nice and tight...

Putting IP back in and Timing Refresher

Sweet! I’m excited to get some things and then put it all back in. Being valve covers are coming off I’m gonna replace those gaskets/seals as well. Thank you so much for building my confidence up and exposing in a way I could comprehend.

Putting IP back in and Timing Refresher

Interesting! So I may get lucky with my first alignment? When the notch meets the correct engine mark I’ll check the looseness of the Rocker Arm. If tight, I’ll turn the engine until it meets the notch again and then the Rocker Arms should be loose, meaning it’s fully closed? Loosen= closed...

Putting IP back in and Timing Refresher

Alright so I may have to turn the crank 4 times max to find TDC? When you say both valves closed (the 2 valves in front) that means that the springs or whatever they are called will be loose? Like I can move/shake em? Meaning they won’t be tight and unmovable. Sorry, I just wanna make sure I...

Putting IP back in and Timing Refresher

Unfortunately, I don’t even know what stroke I am supposed to be on. TDC True Dead Center? And #1 is closest to front of engine? Sorry, I’ve never done timing being line the 3 notches but now come to realize it’s more than that .

Putting IP back in and Timing Refresher

Hey guys. I can not believe I have forgotten this. Without checking where the timing was, I took out my IP and Cleaned it out new seals/ o rings etc. I wanna run these stops by you and see if I am right. Currently, the IP is out of the truck. I turned the IP to where I “see” the white mark in...

Can’t hear Fuel Pump but still starts

Hello Over 2 years ago I replaced my fuel tank and pump and sending unit etc…. Since then, and before, when I would turn the accessories switch on I’d hear the fuel pump sending its liquid. I waited a few then started it. Today, everything turns on, lights etc and Deuce starts up. Is this good...

well I got it all done. Drove about 5 miles came back and it drove smooth. I see nothing weird at the wheel. It drove pleasantly so I hope all is good. I used gear oil Seal maker or whatever it’s called, hope I waited long enough for it to seal
