How thick is your wrench after you cut it, and were you able to get it onto the front and rear of the upper rods without taking the axle brackets off?
It looks like I only have 1/2” max to get a boxed wrench on mine.
Thanks Mos, but after reading Wills response and that you already have liner damage, don’t worry about me, just focus on protecting those cooling nozzles and getting your truck back on the road!
I’ll just keep looking for a cheap, good running, beat down old road tractor for a re-power...
What Simp said. The transmission needs to be taken completely apart cleaned and rebuilt, including the converter and thoroughly flushing the cooler and lines to get all that junk out. Best bet would be to replace the trans and converter
I’m not sure if I’m completely understanding your description, but it sounds like normal operation with the exception of an air leak causing the flashing lights. Have you ever had your CTIS fully functional and know how it acts and sounds when working properly?

A loaded 740 is about 2-1/2 times my weight loaded. I’d bet a dollar the 740 has at least 2-1/2 times the rubber on the ground. If you looking at a job and comparing a 740 to a couple of 5tons, thats like comparing a shot glass full of sea monkeys to a gorilla. As far as abuse...
The ground pressure will likely be no better on these trucks after you add more hauling capacity. Also with the A2, all except the easiest conditions you will need to run in low range, and if you have drivers that are not careful, they will blow the transfer cases out when reversing.
I run 8-10...
Looks to be only about 20 degrees. Welding the bend will partially defeat the point of using ar plate, leaving you with a soft/vulnerable seam. If you have access to a press brake, ar500 will bend, it just takes a little more tonnage and little harder hit due to more spring back vs softer...
