    Non slip paint surface

I use a rust proof paint and mix some white sand in a roller tray. I use a small roller and apply evenly. I wait till paint flashes, [just drys enough to the touch] and topcoat with what ever color I need. Did this on my front fenders and running boards over a year ago and it's still holding up...

Tips and tricks - zippered front knuckle boots

I did the boots twice on my truck. The first ones I did by myself in no time at all and lasted only a couple of months. The rubber was very soft so it made them easy to put on. The second set I bought from another company and the rubber was better quality. I could not get those on without a...

Broke bolt on coolant passages on top of engine... help

Try a two jaw puller under the manifold at the broken bolt with the threaded part of the puller directly over the bolt. Use a short bolt the same diameter to go against the broken bolt and work the puller SLOWLY till the manifold pulls up and off. Then you can remove the broken bolt as others...

Uh, oh! Anti-freeze In the Oil

If it was the oil cooler, oil would be in the anti freeze because oil pressure is greater than cooling system pressure. I would suspect head gasket.

    Be careful with jacks

A jack stand is a must. Even if your going to jack some thing up for a short while. 35 years in the repair business have taught me a lot of valuable lessons. You just proved what being safe is all about. Also you get what you pay for. Should never skimp on jacking equipment.

    Rebuild Wheel Cylinders

If you are going to rebuild the wheel cylinders, this is a good time to inspect the bearings, repack them and change seals . Also inspect brake shoes and drums. Do this all in one shot and you will be good to go for a while. Gives a great piece of mind when taking long trips too.

    M38a1 ground strap question

The strap is used to ground the engine to the frame bypassing the rubber motor mount. Just remember ,when a poor ground is obtained electricity trys to find it's own ground path where ever it can and heat is built up through poor connections.

    Water leaking into cab

Trying to seal all water leaks in a MV is a tough task. Best you can do is keep them down to a minimum. Making sure you have drain holes in the right areas is more important. Find the lowest point in the floor pan and drill a drain hole to let water out. Find a rubber plug to fit the hole when...

    M38a1 ground strap question

The ground strap that you are showing goes from the battery to frame or body. The one you are looking for has no clamp on it. It has an eye on each end, meaning just a bolt or stud hole on either side.

CCKW / M35 brake master cyl. interchangable?

No, it's not the stop light switch. The valve I'm talking about is located at the front of the master cylinder bore. The return spring holds it in place. It slows the flow of fluid when the master cylinder is on the return stroke.

    Heater Ducting Question

Jerry, NAPA has 4 inch heater ducting . I think it comes in 6 foot lengths.

CCKW / M35 brake master cyl. interchangable?

There is a valve in the M35 master cylinder that the old cylinders don't have. Can't say if it would affect the braking power on the CCKW but I put a M35 master in my M-211 and it brakes normal with no problems.

    M211 / M135 Hy-Tran question

I don't run Hy-Tran in my GMC because I did not know if it would harm it. If Tom from Alfa-Heaven runs it in his stuff, then I would say it's fine. He knows those transmissions better than anyone.
