I would be curious to know if the gov's on these engines were set correctly. Just because the tach says DANGER , I would not trust that. I wouldn't rev to that mark. My gov. kicks in about 2300 if the tach is correct. Maybe we should slow it down a bit to be sure we don't blow all our trucks up.

Don't forget the the right cold cranking amp batterys that are up to par. To many times cold starting problems are mistaken for lack of heating the block or fuel. That is very important but the correct cranking speed must be obtained to fire a diesel also. Make sure in cold weather the batterys...

If it's shaking that bad at an idle, then I would say you definately have a cylinder that is not efficient. When you load the engine the weak cylinder is more likely to effect the exaust sound. Sounds to me like a possible fuel delivery problem or a weak valve spring or leaking exaust valve. I...

When DMV asks you what kind of truck it is , tell them it is a flatbed. That is in their drop-down menue. I had to pick that option or I never would have gotten out of there!
