M342/M35 trunnion and suspension repair "Watch Wes Work"

Thought I'd watch a few minutes and ended up watching the whole thing. Quite an adventure, but it should be good to go for many years now. BDGR

Graves Mountain Rally (Virginia), Labor Day Weekend 2021

We're not going to be able to attend this year, unless we just drive out for the day Friday to say hello. Another event has taken priority this year. BDGR

Graves Mountain Rally (Virginia), Labor Day Weekend 2021

Paper form sent by mail, back up with a PM here to be sure. No electronic payment that I know of BDGR

2 Way Radio for David Clark head sets

Unless it comes with headsets, that is VERY expensive compared to what I paid for a similar brand. I got the intercom and 3 headsets for what they're asking. It was all used, and I had to make a few small repairs, true, but for the occasional use and non-life-safety situation, it's fine for...

Found a new website for cab sound proofing

Can I take the 6.2l out and put a 454 in

A few have done it, certainly https://www.steelsoldiers.com/threads/6-2-diesel-to-454-big-block-gas-burner-swap.158781/ I just realized that's in the CUCV, there are several of those threads. I'll search again. I know it's been done.

Removing/Unscrewing Badly Corroded Smart Box Plug

Thanks badgerd, I will keep it in mind. I double checked my meager fixes, all wiring, and then reconnected the batteries and she fired right up and performed the glow cycle without issue. Several other maintenance items to perform, but glad the flashing light went away. BDGR

Removing/Unscrewing Badly Corroded Smart Box Plug

Well, another go with my big Channel lock pliers and it won't budge. I am going to have to shore it up best I can and when the time comes it HAS to come apart a saw will be involved I fear. RWH, you are spot on, the bolts were tight but the threads are not down the entire length so they stop...

Graves Mountain Rally (Virginia), Labor Day Weekend 2021

Not sure if we'll make it. A dear friend told us to save the date for a wedding. Once they settle on the schedule of events, we might could make it down for a day or two, I hope. BDGR

Removing/Unscrewing Badly Corroded Smart Box Plug

Thanks. I hit it with PB that night. I'll give it one more try today before I try anything else. BDGR

Removing/Unscrewing Badly Corroded Smart Box Plug

I was tracking down a flashing Wait light and figured out it was the grounding wire to my Nartron box. What happened is the rubber mounts for the box had crumbled and then let the bolts slack up. I intended to remove the box (batteries disconnected of course) and add rubber bushings all...

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

I haven't tried it in the HMMWV yet, but for boot repairs and fabric/foam stuff I use Barges contact cement. STRONG stuff. Good old fashioned grip and won't let go. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001YHL5BG/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_ADJPNBGHSGXTKYSQ0GMK Bulldogger

    HUMMIES for DUMMIES

I just sold my wife's car and got a second mortgage on our house to buy a sick Humvee I saw on Gov Planet this afternoon. Can't wait to surprise my wife with it. What do I need to know about Humvees?

    Lack of power at speed.

A lot of writing about ways to boost power here, but I didn't se mention of any potential faults for lower power. I'll offer that my HMMWV 6.2L had lower power when hot than initial startup. I'm certain it was low compression, as that motor had been badly abused by the ANG before I saved it...

Plan to buy a 3D printer

Metal printing is extremely expensive. Plastics are decidedly more affordable. If you have some hundreds of dollars, there are some good machines like Prusa or Creality and so on. If you have a few thousand, there are some pro-sumer brands like CreatBot (which I have) and if you hane $20,000...

Good vendor for Humvee covers and doors going out of business

I have a soft top made by Breton. Bought it last year, didn't have any trouble. Was only backordered a month. Probably helped that I wanted OD green, as they seemed to never have black or camo in stock. It is a bit saggy, but water tight and well made. I tried to offer them my HMMWV soft...

    My new 1992 M998 Avenger

Interesting finds Springer1981, and these give some further background to claims others have made about getting more than one bad fan clutch in a row. Apparently this situation of bad bearings is not all that uncommon! BDGR

    1954 M221 - new purchase

She's gorgeous! Congratulations. Now, um, what about the 151's and other goodies? Any indication he might sell others off? Green metal disease addicts want to know. Mansfield is only about 4.5 hours straight North for me... Unrelated question for the group, will two demilled 151 halves...
