I had trouble finding a garage to take it on too, until someone noted Jeff of Tactical Truck isn't very far from me. The civilian garages I called were scared of anything not like for like, stock replacements. They also didn't want to fuss with military wiring (Packard connectors, etc.) and...
I had an aluminum Champion installed recently, purchase through Summit or Jegs, I can't recall immediately. Holding up fine so far. +1 Predator is no good.

Good point Ajax. Yes, we should be doing most of the work, since that's the kind of vehicle it is (non-standard, no dealer support). I figured he was looking for someone to help on BIG stuff, like I did in seeking a professional to do a powertrain swap.
Every day wrenching, no problem!

I replaced the foam inside some of mine, as TOBASH recommends. It's not too hard to open a seam on the underside of the cushion and replace the foam, then stitch it back closed.

Jeff Symansky at Commercial Tool and Die in Marshall VA does good work and is very familiar with MVs. If that's not too far for you. He did my turbo drivetrain swap. He has a yard full of 5-tons and Deuces, a HMMWV, and many Jeeps offsite. I watched him restore an antique military Jeep while...
Congratulations on the 4-speed TOBASH and commiserations on the oil cooler. I look forward to your usual excellent documentation on the heater core R/R. Mine needs to be replaced and our rigs are similar vintage.

For those considering Centramatics, I decided to make the plunge today and did some price searching. Found the next best price (by $1) on HitchSource.com, and they offer a price match, so I asked them about it and instead of the $1.10 difference (delta plus 10%) they gave me a 5% off code...
PayPal left me high and dry with a purchase from a suspect site earlier this year. Was only $30 thankfully. In this case I got a USPS tracking number ishortly after placing the order, and tracking that number showed it was deliverd the day BEFORE I placed the order. PP did not care one whit.

Their prices seem quite volatile, and not always less than the gougers on eBay and "made of gold" surplus outlets but often lower. It's worth checking their site when sourcing parts, and, as others have said, being very patient on shipping times.

It's a very small inside diameter, so you won't move a lot of air. If you think air is getting through, that should be enough to vent.
Probably just a leaking seal then. We've ALL had one, or more. I've replaced three myself (one on my ride and two on TheCaptain's).
It's straightforward...
There should be a small black plastic tube (like 1/8" dia.) coming off the top of the hub, headed for the engine bay and ultimately to the air cleaner housing. It tends to get brittle, and can be plugged, cracked, or both. Check it like any other bit of tubing; disconnect and give a blow or...
They re-used my front shaft half and I bought a new rear shaft from AMG. Had to swap the rear U joint off my old rear shaft to use with my older differential (spline count), but it worked ok. https://genuinehumveeparts.com/ (My HMMWV is a 1987, FYI, so plenty of parts on it don't work with...
Well, just now the mechanic says his #2 was in a hurry, and didn't connect the rear battery for 12V before testing. Hallelujah!
I may pick her up this weekend. Been there since July... Good, fast, cheap: pick 2.
I'll post her up in my old thread when she comes home. I think a 1" lift will...
Yes, it was a torched frame assembly, still bolted on. Had the carrier bearing but rest of front propellor (drive shaft) was cut. Rear shaft also cut. Turbo pipes cut, but half there. Intake missing about half the plumbing. Pretty representative I guess.
uShip isn't bad, but be sure to list...
Took a look through my UPS receipts from September. 1250 pounds for 6.5TD, 4L80E and Transfer case on a 4'x8' pallet.
I hope you're not sourcing from Global Parts Auto Group. I did. Never again.

Interesting. They told me they checked it, but I don't know if it was hooked up to the battery. I will have the Senior Mech check.
Thanks for the t/s guide Coug, I stumbled across it earlier myself. I hope it's not the rectifier or the 12v winding. It would be no surprise, as this TD...
