I'm pretty sure the trees were killed by bark beetles. The forest service removes the dead trees to reduce the fire risk. Bark beetles are more prone to attacking trees that are stressed, which most are due to the drought. Jon

I haven't called around yet, but when I looked up the NSN for the core only, it shows that the government paid over $4000 per core a few years ago... That's more than the whole radiator. Hopefully you're right, it would be great if a multi-application core could fit the HEMTT tanks and side...

Other than the core itself, it can only leak at the top and bottom tank gaskets. The steel side pieces are just supports for the tanks and core and do not hold any water.
