Ah yes! That was why I called Pall Aeropower. When I went to service my filter, the old o-ring(s) had disintegrated into mush, so I had nothing to match, and searching the NSN didn't give me enough info. They were very helpful, and sent me the manual as well as gave me the specs for the o-rings...
Why would you bypass the high pressure filter? If you need info on them, it's a Pall model 9800... I have the service manual from Pall I can email you if you need it, and the filters are cheap and plentiful through surplus channels. The tech at Pall told me they're very nice aircraft-grade...
I use 2-stroke oil, I get it in gallon jugs from AutoZone... Pennzoil brand, I think. It's thicker than the watery WalMart stuff The Diesel Stop tested, and I use it at 160:1 instead of 200:1. It's amazing to me how good biodiesel did in those tests... If there was biodiesel available around...
Do you know if the ones he's buying are the ones that used to be at Barstow Truck Parts? I always wondered what happened to them when BTP closed...

I was definitely planning to be there with the HEMTT, got my packet from the museum, but I got denied the days off... Gotta go talk to Al and see if I can get them approved.
Boy, that first video... I think I'd get in a head on collision cause I'd want to be on the 'wrong' side of the road! And those roundabouts! That seems like quite a workout in a deuce...
I agree about a repair shop, but I've opened up solenoids and refinished the contacts with files and fine sandpaper... That's probably all that's gone bad in there, especially since you were hearing it move but it wasn't turning the motor on.
Since the batteries are good, it could be dirty or pitted contacts in the solenoid. I've had it happen, I just pushed the start button a bunch of times and it suddenly made contact and started. If the clunk is the pinion gear engaging the flywheel but the starter is unable to crank the engine...
Here's a few pics... I wish I had taken more. I enjoyed myself except for the rain Friday night:
Speak for yourself on that one! I was sleeping in the back of the HEMTT and I didn't notice the rain until it woke me up when it soaked through my sleeping bag. Boots, socks, jacket... Everything...
So you guys are going out there Thursday? I'm planning to stop by, I haven't decided whether it will be overnight Friday to Saturday or just for the day on Saturday... I'm not much of a camper anymore, especially if the weather is warm (I'm not a fan of warm weather and I'm intolerant of heat)...
I don't actually know the flow and pressure ratings; I wasn't able to find much info on it, even on the manufacturer's website. I do know that exact motor/pump unit is part of the pre-lube option from Caterpillar dealers, they call it PreLub / QuickEvac and it's made for Cat by RPM Industries. I...
Are you sure? I would have figured if the truck has plastic hoses in the air brake system they would be DOT. And I agree about an emergency fix... Do whatever you need to do to get yourself home.
So what is that hose you carry that is thicker than DOT hose? Unless I'm going far from home, I'm a...
I just bought the 24v prelube pump below for my HEMTT... It will be pretty simple to plumb it from the pan to a port before the oil filters. I'll use a start solenoid near the pump to keep large gauge wiring to a minimum.
74M35A2's data on startup wear surprised me, but after thinking about it...
Good idea to carry that stuff, especially if you venture far from home or a NAPA, but aren't those fittings you got meant only for copper? Hardware store compression fittings for plastic require a little brass sleeve that goes inside the tube... DOT air fittings have this built into the fitting...
