What have you done to your HEMTT/PLS/MK48 this week

That's why I wouldn't leave the cover on, or even the bows. I use the crane too often. I really bought it just so I could camp out in the back when I'm at rallies / shows / other events. NOW you tell me! I think Dave Walker still has another new cover. It's a little thinner material...

What have you done to your HEMTT/PLS/MK48 this week

Here's a few pics of my HEMTT with the cargo cover on... I didn't have the energy to put the end curtains on, the cover itself is quite heavy and with just over 6' of head room under the bows, it was hard work getting it up there without the help of a Soldier B and preferably a Soldier C as...

    Walker Auto & Truck Wrecking

Hey Will, Dave is fine, I just talked to him today and I'm meeting him at the yard tomorrow to pick up some HEMTT parts. I don't have much of an answer for why he has become more difficult to reach, he pretty much always answers his personal cell phone, but I know he doesn't want that number...

Piston Rings Worn Out, Time for a Rebuild

Well here's to hoping your engine takes a dump! That's a conversion I'd like to see... Jon

    M54 transfer shot.

I'm glad you're making progress, but I think you should try a different TM... There are in fact better ones out there, which I think would not have caused you so much frustration. My copy of TM9-2320-211-35 is dated 1964 and is printed so dark that the pictures are worthless...

    M54 transfer shot.

Maybe I'm confused or maybe my last post was confusing.... In your pic, the green arrow says "input" but so far as I can tell, your transfer case is upside down (the shift rod is near the ground), and what you have labeled as "input" is actually the front output. Jon

    M54 transfer shot.

Okay, I had to look in my TM up to the point in disassembly you're at, and studied your pictures... There's a chance I'm not understanding it all correctly yet, but, I THINK the "input shaft" (green arrow in your pic) was supposed to have been removed together with the housing before you took...

What TM are you using? Maybe there's an updated one or a different one.... Jon

What have you done to your HEMTT/PLS/MK48 this week

I saw it coming about 5 miles out... The hours were at 444.4 but the mileage was at 22,217. I thought "no way the hours will still be at 444.4 in another 5 miles" but I kept an eye on it and got the camera ready, and sure enough! I just looked at the picture I posted above, and it almost looks...

What have you done to your HEMTT/PLS/MK48 this week

I just picked mine up today (Friday)... I probably won't get a chance to try it out until Sunday. My wife's parents are visiting from Scottsdale and her dad wanted a ride, so I drove the HEMTT to Fastenal to pick up the crate. I looked down at the gauges just in time to catch them at 22,222.2...

    M274 Questions

As it is, 25 mph on a mule is scary fast. If you want to go faster, make sure your wife has plenty of life insurance on you, especially if you have kids. Maybe a personal injury / disability plan too. Jon

What have you done to your HEMTT/PLS/MK48 this week

Great video, but personally I wouldn't have done it that way... I would have rented a full size van so I could carry more equipment, and I would have picked up the complete Mk48 first, then went to pick up the FPU and flat towed it to get the wrecker RBU, then driven both complete trucks back...

    M123 and M125 10-tons

This post made me laugh... My wife considers herself a "feminist". After 7 years with me, I think I've given her testosterone poisoning! Jon

What have you done to your HEMTT/PLS/MK48 this week

I've had a new HEMTT tarpaulin for over 8 months but no bows or end curtains... I bought one of Swiss's kits, I plan to put it on when it arrives to see how it looks so I'll post pics then if someone doesn't beat me to it. I know they look funky and the tarpaulin is a thin material - seems...

The first event of this year.

Great trucks, looks like fun... I love the metal shop buildings, I'm going to be building one of them in the next year or so. I like the "left hand drive" stencil, never seen that before (for obvious reasons!) Jon

    M51 Dump truck questions

I've done it, I towed my XM818 tractor with my deuce as seen below. It's not a good idea, but in my case I only had to go about 5 miles. My deuce has had it's fuel rate turned up significantly, and the XM818 weighs about 3,000lbs less than your dump truck, and I can tell you that I was near...

    M985 article on TFLtruck.com

Cool article! I had never considered how few M985s there were (sold as surplus) compared to the M977. I definitely sought out the higher capacity crane (since it actually gets used), but my timing to get a great deal on one was lucky indeed. I've managed to piece together (from 2 different...

    Big Thanks to dmetalmiki

Awesome! It would be interesting to hear the story if it's okay to print here... What you were doing in England... Vacation? What happened to required help... MV related? Or if it's already been posted, link it here. Thanks... Regards, Jon
