WARNING aftermarket doors from Global Parts

Work has kept me away from my favorite toys for the past weeks, but tonight I took the driver side doors of the A2 and placed them on the M1123. Somehow the soft top and the open bed don't look right with the heavy doors, I can see what you mean! I'm thinking of getting half doors. Maybe you...

WARNING aftermarket doors from Global Parts

 Thanks guys for the info. I may be hunting for some good doors for my M1123 when I'm done putting the A2 back together. Looks like the most difficult parts to find !

Is there a bench test for N3135 dual voltage 200amp regulator

I totally forgot, sorry. I'll find it in the garage sometime this week to share a photo. The sanitation of the A2 has kept me busy this week-end!

2002 HmMWV DEEEEP fording ? PICS

It's funny how the bumper makes the humvee much more civilized ! I was still against the idea a few weeks back, but I must confess I just ordered an airlift bumper for the A2

Please help with 60A generator upgrade

My experience is that 40 year old military parts are sometimes by far better than newer parts. Particularly from unknown parties and sometimes even from the same manufacturers: regulations, supply chain, profitability and other things make it that the 'good old' stuff was good for a reason...

    Light bar!

The previous owner of my A2, who had installed the bar on the roof, had it about 2.5" back so the hood was in the shadow of the roof. That didn't look too good, and didn't solve the fog or rain curtain...

    Light bar!

Amber light is good for fog, rain and dust particularly combined with white beams. However if that's for bad weather (I'm in California so that's not common here) then I would not mount the bar above the windshield, but right below the hood deck otherwise the light creates a curtain that's a...

Anyone put an "infotainment" in a HMMWV?

My engineering perspective has been to not use existing systems as constraints, so I will purposely not look at the BFT system as cool as it is ;-) I think the best is to use a pair of HDMI and USB ports on the main controller to let installers decide what touch display they want and focus more...

    Coug, what is that thing??

    Light bar!

I have a like new light bar that was on the slantback when I got it. I want only original parts on it, so while the flood bar is amazing at night I decided to remove it. I saw some Humvees back in the days in Bosnia that had a sort of metal cap/sun-visor to hold some electronics and if I'd keep...

Anyone put an "infotainment" in a HMMWV?

When I think about it, it will look more like a blue force tracking system, in summary. Much simpler but similar. Thanks for bringing this up! It won't reuse anything of the BFT but I'm thinking of enabling a few buttons on the frame around the display that can be used by the controller itself...

    Advertising!

I haven't experienced that. It must be your Google profile that has been categorized as an amateur of these things and therefore a good target for such ads :) More seriously I don't really care but I was a manager at a tech company a few years ago and noticed that employees were complaining...

Is there a bench test for N3135 dual voltage 200amp regulator

I l'll take some this weekend. It's very simple, really. A wheel on a motor. I always have 2-3 spare wheels, they need replacement once in a while as the rubber starts peeling off after a few dozen hours of use, particularly when using them against pulleys with deeper groves.

Anyone put an "infotainment" in a HMMWV?

I now receive and can process GPS coordinates. It's over USB so the installer will be free to install it anywhere. I have recycled the GPS antenna that was on my Badger - great thing is that it's literally an enclosure that opens from the top in which I could fit the new receiver. On the...

    Turbo doghouse conversion trim pieces?

Thanks Mogman. I ordered those and assume that some rivets will need to be grounded to replace the reinforcement plates. I realize that it's needed for more than convenience: in my A2 the turbo heat shield doesn't fit without being cut. I received a new heat shield and indeed, I cannot manage...

Is there a bench test for N3135 dual voltage 200amp regulator

For this type of tests I have a 3/4hp (110v) motor with a skateboard wheel, and another 2.5hp (240v) motor with a heavy rubber cart wheel on it. I bolt one on the workbench, securely lock an alternator in the vise (using mounting bolts on a thick plate) and from there I can test them at 5-6...

    60A regulator on 200A alternator?

BTW that's the type of parts that I always buy new or certified refurbished by the manufacturer. Am I right? I see there are used ones for about 1/3 of the price... I suspect they are sold independently of the alternator for a reason!?

    60A regulator on 200A alternator?

Thanks guys. Looks like I'm about to pop a grand to replace the regulator! For those who have read the posts on my slantback issues: - the regulator is physically damaged (badly) like multiple people jumped on it - I had charge issues, truck wouldn't want to start at some point and the error...

    60A regulator on 200A alternator?

2002 HmMWV DEEEEP fording ? PICS

No need for bumpers Indeed! Both of my humvees don't have bumpers and my plan is to unbolt the military hitch on one of them (probably the m1123) and adapt a square universal receiver so different hitch balls and accessories can be used there. I have adapted a military hitch on a universal...
