Best check with your State DMV, and your insurance agent so you will know what registration, etc is going to cost you. Every State, and Company are different.

I put a complete Pertronix distributor in my Mom's 1965 Dodge Monaco, and it needed 12 volts,
The instructions with the distributor called for 12 volts, so I bypassed the resistor.
Just a guess....they probably used different pump off systems. Fuel would be metered, did the military meter off loaded water?
The fuel tanker may also have multiple compartments for hauling more than one grade of fuel.
