Planes, Buses, and In-n-Out: The 1000 Mile Recovery

I like stories like this...... Good long recovery, strange people on a Greyhound, roadside breakdown with SS assistance [thumbzup], and a successful conclusion. All you needed was a UFO sighting and this story would enter the "epic" catagory of SS recoveries

A new way to use a mil trailer on a civy vehicle!

simple and effective. I was just going to wire in some walmart LED lights and see what happened with dual voltage. sometimes i just wire another set of lights that are 12v. this is easier

tim, thanks for the short M818 operator lesson i got at the rally we made the trip with no problems getting mine. I replaced my stock seat with a MRAP seat and its MUCH more comfortable. I posted pics in the 5ton and up modification thread. If your going to redo them anyway. might be worth an...

Trying to get a RHIB transported.

that may be one from my old unit, Did it have the inboard volvo penta diesel engine? Anyway we used to pull them with a 3/4 ton truck. Just get a heavy duty pintle hook (they sell them at Tractor Supply)and pull it back yourself they pull real nice. A one ton would be better but they still...

    MRAP seat

the stock new seat adjustment is better than the stock seat. The front of the new one is a bit higher in the front than the stock seat so your legs sit closer to the wheel, but when you sit down and compress the spring it works great. the back sits a bit deeper so you have more room. The new...

    MRAP seat

well i added a Mastercraft MRAP seat i bought off Epay and installed it. One of the other posters here was saying how they bolted to the stock seat frame. It didnt on my stock springer seat base I had to shorten the frame rails to 8 1/4" spacing between them and drill out the front mounting...

    Strange "Chirp" Sound...

naah.... they arent anything to replace just get new ones at Napa, Autozone, Oreilles, ect and just replace them. Get new Ujoints with the new cups already installed. Should take maybe 30 minutes a joint for both the rear and front. Its a good thing to go ahead and do for a new (to you) 4x4...

    sea foam/spin on question

if you read the back of the can it describes using it in the filter housing or spin on filter to quickly clean the injectors. I have also just added it to the tank. I believe lucas oil and seafoam are essential additives for every old military engine.

My first pick up... an M1009

i did the same thing using a car trailer. I wasnt sure if you meant a tow dolly or a car hauler. Adam is the one who will probably load you. Teresa, i think, is working in the office. Both are great people. Wreckerman is in and out of the yard almost every week so you might want to PM him and...

Colelkhunter and I got back last night from Ferros place in South Carolina to West Tennessee. Amistad NRA San Antonio to Tucson

might want to get one of the noise canceling headphones with the radio built in. The constant whine of the engine gets monotonous a few tunes makes the going a bit easier. The cab is really loud. The drivers seat sits you straight up and down and it will hurt your back on long trips. a small...

question on fuel can bracket M1009

i cant find my box i used for the bolts but they are the flat topped bolts with the rounded head and square base used for recessing in a wood board. I used a 2" long bolt and just cut off the excess after i threaded the nut tight underneath. Worked great. The bolt fell through the hole I didnt...
