I like stories like this...... Good long recovery, strange people on a Greyhound, roadside breakdown with SS assistance [thumbzup], and a successful conclusion.
All you needed was a UFO sighting and this story would enter the "epic" catagory of SS recoveries
simple and effective. I was just going to wire in some walmart LED lights and see what happened with dual voltage. sometimes i just wire another set of lights that are 12v.
this is easier
the two prong is the old style slave connector it was used before the now standard single prong was. I used to have an adaptor somewhere.
As fot the other wires, I have no idea. Every CUCV ive gotten has had extra crap running everywhere.
thanks for the post..... i was just about to change out my filer anyway. As im going to be using this truck a bunch an easier to get at filter is much better.
I got quoted the same so it must be a nationwide market system, I only drive them once or twice a month anyway so i went collector but Im VERY happy with the agents they just laugh and ask what strangeness im insuring now they dont even question it. I was going to ask about concurrent boat...
statefarm collector vehicle insurance. 4.95 a month on the deuce, 8.85 a month on the m818. I have my stated values as what i paid on GL not replacement value. Im running collision on the deuce and full coverage and comp on the m818
tim, thanks for the short M818 operator lesson i got at the rally we made the trip with no problems getting mine. I replaced my stock seat with a MRAP seat and its MUCH more comfortable. I posted pics in the 5ton and up modification thread. If your going to redo them anyway. might be worth an...
that may be one from my old unit, Did it have the inboard volvo penta diesel engine?
Anyway we used to pull them with a 3/4 ton truck. Just get a heavy duty pintle hook (they sell them at Tractor Supply)and pull it back yourself they pull real nice. A one ton would be better but they still...
the stock new seat adjustment is better than the stock seat. The front of the new one is a bit higher in the front than the stock seat so your legs sit closer to the wheel, but when you sit down and compress the spring it works great. the back sits a bit deeper so you have more room.
The new...
well i added a Mastercraft MRAP seat i bought off Epay and installed it. One of the other posters here was saying how they bolted to the stock seat frame. It didnt on my stock springer seat base I had to shorten the frame rails to 8 1/4" spacing between them and drill out the front mounting...
naah.... they arent anything to replace just get new ones at Napa, Autozone, Oreilles, ect and just replace them. Get new Ujoints with the new cups already installed. Should take maybe 30 minutes a joint for both the rear and front. Its a good thing to go ahead and do for a new (to you) 4x4...
Your going to bob a KRAZ :not worthy:
Im going to replace my seat today in my M-818..... you are so outdoing me but im glad to see you doing it.
remember to post pics:driver:
if you read the back of the can it describes using it in the filter housing or spin on filter to quickly clean the injectors. I have also just added it to the tank. I believe lucas oil and seafoam are essential additives for every old military engine.
:funny:
you did get a nice truck out of the deal, however it came about. If your still game on trading your 02 will you buy ME another m1009 Ill let you drive it whenever you get to west tennessee i promise....
i did the same thing using a car trailer. I wasnt sure if you meant a tow dolly or a car hauler. Adam is the one who will probably load you. Teresa, i think, is working in the office. Both are great people. Wreckerman is in and out of the yard almost every week so you might want to PM him and...
Colelkhunter and I got back last night from Ferros place in South Carolina to West Tennessee. We drove Brians 1031 CUCV with a M101 bed conversion to Ferros place and arrived and started pre-trip inspections at maybe 10 at night. We were going to get a hotel but decided to get moving until we...
might want to get one of the noise canceling headphones with the radio built in. The constant whine of the engine gets monotonous a few tunes makes the going a bit easier. The cab is really loud.
The drivers seat sits you straight up and down and it will hurt your back on long trips. a small...
i cant find my box i used for the bolts but they are the flat topped bolts with the rounded head and square base used for recessing in a wood board. I used a 2" long bolt and just cut off the excess after i threaded the nut tight underneath. Worked great. The bolt fell through the hole I didnt...
