im no electrical guru but I never understood the whole 24 volt thing. For something like a light or electric over hydraulic trailer brakes or a relay, it doesnt make enough difference to hassle with it, IMO. For things like car audio and other "normal" vehicle systems, I would say its kind of a...
delete this if its out of line, but probably not a great idea to come into someone else's build up thread and ask a bunch of questions about a truck that you want to build. Especially when the questions have been answered many times before.

A gooseneck ball behind the axle will make a GN/fifth wheel trailer track more in line with the wheels or more like a bumper pull. There is a limit to this of course, but as noted, placing it behind the axle on a MDT is not an issue where it might be on a one ton dually depending on the pin weight.
I guess Swedish is better than French, but not my first choice:
Mack Trucks is an American truck-manufacturing company and a wholly owned subsidiary of Renault Véhicules Industriels since 1990. Mack Trucks is currently a subsidiary of AB Volvo. On 2 January 2001, Renault Véhicules Industriels...

and the rest can be found on popular diesel forums such as "cumminsforum" or "dieselplace" where this topic has been discussed ad nauseum for years and years....

^^^ or just use an inverter that has a rectifier built in to maintain 60 Hz. Then you can run at most efficient speed, quietest speed, etc. and always have 60 Hz.

talk to a diesel shop like Scheid in Indiana. CTAs have been used in MDTs and many other applications for years now. Just like the 5.9, there are mechanical versions and electronic versions. Two valve per cylinder motors and four valve per cylinder motors.
They are very reliable engines when...
correct me if I am wrong, but in a leaf sprung suspension with a fixed front and a shackle at the rear, ride height should show about 45* shackle angle. As the leaf flattens out and the tire comes up into the body, the shackle angle will travel towards the horizontal plane, thereby "pulling"...
FIA race trucks are mostly cabover trucks running water cooled brakes, engine amidships (low and behind the cab) and having 1100-1300 hp and 3500-4000 pound feet of torque.
Many of them have "auto-sticks" which is like a bump shift or paddle shift in a rally or formula one car. Mike Ryan...
other than sitting WAY too high for my tastes, i love the idea of 4x4 and 6x6 cabovers, especially since they dont exist in the US with VERY few exceptions.
Cabovers such as Mitsubishi Fuso, Isuzu, Hino and Iveco are available in the rest of the world with four and six wheel drive on several...
You guys must not get out much,..... no problems at all with a manual trans holding 300hp, a little NV4500 from a Dodge pickup will do that... If you fix the fifth gear nut and put a beefier clutch in, they will hold 500-600hp.
Popular applications of a 6v92 show 253hp and 775 TQ up to 335HP...
why the CARC? No reason for it really (IMO)
Talked to SoilentGreen on pirate about it at length, he is a distributor for PPG (i think) and an avid milveh guy. What I remember is that its a pain in the a$$ to put on right, take off and deal with in general. The military used it for resistance to...
Cummins 8.3 (CTA) was only mechanical prior to 96 or 97, I forget when the exact changeover was. It may also be listed as a 6CT or 6CTA. The ISC series are still 8.3L but are the newer architecture and in some cases common rail fuel injection and computer controlled. The mechanical version of...
It is not anyone's responsibility nor is it their duty to regulate or preserve "the hobby" or "military vehicles".
If someone wants to swap ring gears to 4.88s and go 75 mph down the freeway, that is their prerogative. If they have crappy brakes or tires or the engine uses a lot of fuel or...
If you have the cash and time, I would suggest the following:
Run separate airlines for t-case and any ARB lockers that are installed, daisy chaining things together is bad (one failure point takes out everything)
Additionally, there are at least two types of Detroit Lockers, which behave...
