you do realise that at least two of your tires are mounted backwards...??
cool build, looking forward to progress pics. How are you going to connect the two "cabs" together on the inside? just patch it with sheet metal or a big plate to cover all the seams and joints, etc or ??? seems like they...
Deuce case is strong, but its also massive and heavy and 50 year old technology and only has 2:1 reduction. Sell it or scrap it and get an NP205, Atlas or one ton truck case (NV261/3 or NV271/3). They hold up to boosted four wheel drive launches in diesel drag trucks with 800+ HP.
Everything...
from almost 20 years of off roading in a little of everything, an NDT type of tire is pure garbage. Its 60 year old technology -- look at the tread pattern, not much of one there. Im not saying you cant drive down a dirt road with them or even do some mild off roading, but look at ANY modern off...
get on the diesel boards and start reading. Duramax engines of all years have been put into about everything you can imagine including boats and muscle cars.
There are companies that make stand alone engine management for the engine and trans and you would be a fool to try to re-use the deuce...
Travis, You say you are looking into the HE351 that Matt and I talked to you about, but my understanding is that is for the new common rail trucks and I thought you had a 12 valve?
I could be mistaken on both as there maybe a way to make a variable electronic turbo work on an older motor...
running a spool or Lincoln locker on the street is not going to tear up parts as some have suggested. It will wear your tires faster than normal if you drive a lot on the street, thats about it.
I have a pretty well built 80s Toyota 4runner with a spool in the rear and a Detroit in the front...
Didnt read the four pages of BS, but here is your answer:
Chock the front tires or otherwise secure the truck from rolling. Put the transmission and/or transfer case in neutral. Lift the rear of the truck so both tires are off the ground. Turn one tire by hand, if the other side turns the same...
Travis, good to see the truck running, hope you got some of the nice weather we had in ATL this weekend, it was 70 here yesterday.
My buddy Matt that came with me to visit you is pretty knowledgeable on Cummins if you want to talk to him about your turbo issues.
We will come back up for a ride...
would like to see the step by step build on this, but I found these cheap enough to not bother trying to make one:
Train Horn Diaphragm [0960212] : 75 Chrome Shop, Chrome Semi Truck accessories, parts, and service
get on Expedition Portal and read the Mitsubishi Heavy Truck section. Plenty of info on cab overs there including crew cabs. A Fuso FE crew cab is HUGE inside. Yes there is an engine between the seats, but due to cabin configuration (sitting down and in front of the tires) if the engine was not...
the half a dozen ways comment in my post was referring to things like single or double triangulated four link, parallel four links (basically ladder bars) with a panhard rod, etc.. You are correct in saying there is a right way and wrong way to do it and if you get it wrong, your truck will not...
if the tire IS actually out of round, you should take it to a commercial truck tire shop and have it shaved true.
BBs, water, equal, etc will only do so much for balancing..
there is a replacement for displacement, its called boost... if you want instant off idle power use a blower or twin (compound) turbos. If you are not pulling a huge load, drag racing or sled pulling, you will be fine throwing that multi-fuel in the river and installing a stock to mildly...
no, there's not really...
New Version of my 4-link Analyzer & Request for Help - Pirate4x4.Com Bulletin Board
and read through HUNDREDS of builds there and on other forums. It is a simple link suspension that can be installed a half dozen ways or more depending on the handling characteristics...
Travis, lemme know if you dont want this in here and I will take it out:
