That is excellent, thanks Ray. Its a more easily discernable variation than I realized.

As an aside... I know the Bosch unit appears slightly different from the Ambac unit. Does anyone have both kinds they could photograph to show the difference?

    803A Hard to start

Quarter... try this. Get the machine priming and push in the fault light so everything is lit up... start cranking while holding this. Do not let go of the fault lights, if it starts to run, while still holding the fault lights, flip the battle short up (and let go of the fault light button)...

    803A Hard to start

So this set was actually in my hands, before quartermeters. It did start rough, but it did start, and it made rated power before it left. That was 8 or so months ago.

    Burying a fuel tank

Yeah sorry it was for the OP. I see by your signature you have no issues burning through a bit of diesel.

    Burying a fuel tank

Do you have other equipment/vehicles which run on diesel? ULSD sucks in terms of... well everything. You need to be realistic between fuel storage, use, and degradation.

    MEP804b voltage regulator

Let us know how it goes.
  8. Light in the Dark

    803A Hard to start

You need to break the meter out for that. I have been talking with quartermeter for a couple days on this and actually am able to share the run video/issue he is having. See here:

    MEP-802a “non runner”

I have three coming up from Fayetteville... one was not a runner. Will know this week myself what the deal is.
  10. Light in the Dark

    Burying a fuel tank

Do you not have room to hide a fuel drum in a garage, or a home heating oil tank along a house or something above ground?

    Burying a fuel tank

What do your local codes have to say about that? I assume Miami is a bit different than where I live in the sticks...

    MEP 803A Sub Tank

55g drum is your best bet, in use with an aux fuel cord.

    MEP-003A

When was the last time this machine ran, do you have any idea?
  14. Light in the Dark

    MEP-003A

Yes it primes the fuel system up the the injection pump (and back through the return line). Once the solenoid retracts the mechanical pump starts its job under starting revolution.

    MEP-802a “non runner”

I think the castle nut takes a 1.5" socket from memory, but do check the TM.

The liquid cooled units are the same way, only actuated at Start.
  17. Light in the Dark

    MEP-802a “non runner”

Yeah good tip with the chains... guess I haven't had a trailered set in a while to forget that.
  18. Light in the Dark

    MEP-003A

On DC systems you should hook up the + first, and end the circuit with a - connection, due to sparking reasons. And disconnect with - first.

Tires on these sets run the gamut in terms of safety and quality. Got any old Dana 60 8 lug rims and tires hanging around? Never hurts to bring a backup roller pair. Past that make sure the sets properly bolted down, check the center hub temp after 10-15 miles, but otherwise enjoy the ride.

    MEP 831A getting used

    Feels good, doesn't it!
