    Mike D's deuce recovery/modification thread

So I am thinking that my truck has potentially a serious engine issue. When I first picked up the truck, and ever since it has always has vapor coming out of the breather/slobber tube. I didn't really think anything of it. Little bit of mess, so I made a catch can for it. It collects a...

    LT. Dan M35a2 Modification Thread

I think house paint is fine for these as well. They aren't show pieces, in the sense of a spotless flawless vehicle. Makes for easier touch up too. House paint has to be durable, you would figure, since it is, ya know, after all, outdoor grade paint. Lookin good Dan, those seats are gonna be...

Haha. Awesome. The kids love it. Pull up? I think maybe the handle can be oriented differently? To open, mine is pull back. Neutral position, if you can call it that, is with the lever pointed straight up at 12 o'clock.

I noticed something tonight as well. I took my son with me. Apparently, if you push the inner door handle forward, it locks the handle on the outside? Is that normal? Kind of a cool little feature. Have to remember to leave the window cracked tho when my son is playing in it, as he ends up...

    Mike D's deuce recovery/modification thread

Took the truck for a drive tonight. The truck drives so much better with the front lock outs. It really is like night and day. Its steers much easier and seems to have a bit more pick up. It is such a pleasure now. Problem is, now it makes me think how great it would be with power steering . . .

    Blown Head Gasket

If you have coolant coming out of the slobber tube then you would also see it on the dipstick. And checking the coolant level on these is not straight forward. Too high and it blows out. Im still trying to figure out my truck and the correct level.

    Blown Head Gasket

I wouldn't jump the gun just yet. Milky oil cap is normal if the truck sits during cooling and heating cycles in the weather. Condensation is formed in the block, and if the truck isn't run enough to boil it out, you will get that milky sludge. How much coolant are you losing? You should be...

    Mike D's deuce recovery/modification thread

I thought I had enough machined off but I am questioning it. The axle slop may allow contact as the axle moves laterally in the spindle but im not sure that it matters.

    Mike D's deuce recovery/modification thread

Finished maybe 1/2 of the floor mat project. Very time consuming. Cutting the mats is tedious but in the end it will be worth it. I still need to cut the pieces for the center hump. I also installed despline front hubs. Poor mans lock outs. Slightly concerned about the axle rubbing on the hub...

So what's the point of the holes and the plugs in the sill?

Ya the 4x6 mats. Heavy. 100lbs a piece. They cut well with a razor knife though. I made a cardboard template first and then transfered it over.

    Mike D's deuce recovery/modification thread

Started to install sound deadening today. I decided to cut up 3/4 inch thick rubber stall mats from tractor supply, and line the floors with it. Ill post some pics tomorrow. On a side note, I noticed some rust under the rocker panels. Rust from the inside out. The door sills have plugs in the...

24 volt trailer wiring to 12v Using Relays Diagram

Here's what I have. Pretty much what jimk posted except the brake relay is in the box. This way I can take the box on and off as needed. The NATO plug and female rv plug will hang off the box, and a separate four way connected is needed for the 24v brake, 12v supply, 12v brake and 12v electric...

Edit: Another incorrect diagram. Back to the drawing board....

24 volt trailer wiring to 12v Using Relays Diagram

More thoughts..... The 24V relay from the brake switch might not even be needed at all. Instead, I believe you can tie the left turn and right turn relay outputs onto another leg, and route it back to the controller. This leg will get a signal from the brakes no matter what since it is...

24 volt trailer wiring to 12v Using Relays Diagram

I think this is what I am after. That second brake signal is unnecessary as our trucks share the brake and turn signal. But I am going to move the brake relay into the box, so that it isn't switching on and off all the time when I don't have a trailer. I will have a 4 wire plug that...

24 volt trailer wiring to 12v Using Relays Diagram

I continue to ponder this. Mine don't go dim, they flash on and off completely when using the turn signal. In looking further into this, tapping into the brake light switch directly vs at the plug both have their downfalls. At the plug, all you have is 1. service light 2. right turn/brake...

Going to look at a deuce

If it is as clean as described, for our area in new England it is probably a decent deal. Clean trucks are hard to come by around here.
