Well how long of a term are we talking? Fuel (and subsequent breakdown, as well as algae bloom) are two of your biggest concerns (as well as the soft parts of the fuel system). And how do you intend on keeping the batteries charged.... solar array?
Tell us more about what you are trying to plan...
Last time I picked up in Chambersburg (its been a few months), one of the yard operators was telling me they had a couple hundred more coming 'in a few months'. I remain hopeful, but I still think we have taken a permanent turn in machine pricing.
You got the lucky end of that dice roll. Many others (even here on SS) have not been so fortunate with GL. I am personally glad they lost the business. Am I happy that GP has a monopoly now? Nope... but they at least go through and document what you are actually buying, instead of generic photos...
Welcome to SS. That is a variation I have seen before, and so long as the crimped connections are good (and the right size (and style) fuse is installed in the housing)... you shouldn't have any concerns.
Can I ask why you want to install this? It seems like something that will invariably fail at the wrong time. Especially if you are in the island nations... why would you want something to add complexity to your backup solution? You should find a set that works, and keep it as simple as possible!
I find the best auto start solution to be the one that automatically annoys a person enough to get up and out of their recliner, walk outside, and turn their machine on manually. I'm a touch old fashioned though.
I had told this joker (under the guise of making it work for him), that there were 400 to 60hz inverters on the market that could work... but that they would be prohibitively expensive. I showed him one that would handle up to 3kw, and it was $1800!
You can also just hook the two leads together from the LOPS too, which will give the system a false positive (this way, you have taken this part out of the equation as it will be a GO condition no matter what). If it runs with the leads hooked together, great. If you hook the LOPS back up and it...
Just pull the throttle cable out and lock into position. Rotate until you find the proper hertz setting for your load (its only this rotational adjustment you should have to worry about from here on out). And yes, go grab some Seafoam... in fact, get as many as you can afford (cans were $6.99 at...
I am not Guyfang, but YES... keep it at the sweet spot. You should never have to cycle RPMS down, its made to work at 1800. You may certainly need to fine tune your hertz based on loading of the genset, but keep it at full speed.
You should consider picking up a Kill-A-Watt meter for your testing purposes (so you KNOW its 60hz, instead of relying on a 40 year old gauge), as well as a can of Seafoam. Get that whole can in the tank, and let it cycle for a bit... start to do its magic. I have had sets not be able to...
Have you tested the glow plugs to ensure they are working? Have you verified the wiring to the oil pressure safety switch is intact and connected? It will shut the set down, if it does not sense proper pressure.
I always keep my machines at the OFF position, as it will kill all functionality at the panel (so in case a switch was left on, or a panel light, or something stupid... won't be running down the battery without my knowledge).
