    Frequency Variation MEP-803A

As others have said, you will find to set hertz higher (61.5 is a real good starting point) and give 'her ****, and adjust the hertz once your load has been determined. It should hum there pretty well (even considering tolerance range) for as long as you have fuel.

    mep-803a fuel cap vent

I've only encountered units with the fitting closed that have been 'preserved'. Otherwise... they have all been open. A small, easy to overlook detail for the casual owner.

Please help mouse proof my 802A.

Yeah, but there are a number of overzealous moderators who troll through this part of the site, so its much easier to do it this way.

    Frequency Variation MEP-803A

Are you basing this solely on what the panel gauge is telling you?

Please help mouse proof my 802A.

Until the day you have to replace a battery, and suddenly have to run out for a few hours, with no battery in its place.... yes, most of the time you won't have to worry. But why not eliminate ANY chance when you are already on topic?

Are you going to put cloth under the battery trays, to block their entrance through those two holes? I would. You should be able to just cut a piece and put it under each battery tray if you don't want to lift the whole machine up again. If you locate the battery with the tie downs... the sheet...

    MEP 802 or 803

The pricing is nuts. Ive got a 10k for sale locally, that with what I am asking, I cannot even replace it for! Auction prices a few days ago were over 5k for units that used to be about a grand....

    Generator AUX fuel connections

Yup, a takeoff of an old German design. Guyfang has talked about the roots of this in a previous post somewhere if you were interested in searching. But they are great cans regardless!

    Generator AUX fuel connections

And if anyone is looking to get NATO cans at a real good price (and be authentic Wavians): http://www.roverparts.com/Parts/GJC20 They are of course for legality reasons (they are sold without spouts) for POTABLE WATER USE ONLY.... but deduce their complete range of liquid holding capabilities...

    Generator AUX fuel connections

Wavians are NATO style.... Scepter are the 2" round style. If you have already invested in the Wavians... instead of using the bung adapter, just run the fuel hose into the can, and let it suck while submerged in the fuel. I personally use Wavians for my normal cans (but have 55g drums for my...

    MEP-805B reconfiguration

Welcome to SS. Have you downloaded the manuals for this set? :)

    MEP 802 or 803

Oh yeah, the 803s are smooooooth operators! Tough to explain to someone how a 4 cylinder engine can be smoother and quieter than a twin half its size... but its true.
  13. Light in the Dark

    Generator AUX fuel connections

Yes, the handle on the bung adapter squeezes the seal outwards when articulated.... taking up the space. The fuel can adapter at the very top post should look identical to what you have?

    MEP 802 or 803

Wiring up one of these is easy... you need to decide how you want to do it. I love the ability to unhook, so if you are going with an 803... you are going to want a 50A power inlet (like this: https://www.amazon.com/Reliance-Controls-Corporation-PB50-Generators/dp/B000HRWGBW). It will need to be...

    MEP 802 or 803

Assume an MEP-803 is going to burn about 1.1 gal/hr at full tilt. It will consume about .6 gal/hr at 50% load. MEP-802 will consume about .6 gal/hr at full tilt, and half that at half load. Its all pretty linear. You might want to invest in a solar 24V battery charging system (or (2) 12V solar...

Installed Mechanical Oil Pressure Gauge on MEP-803A

It could be a bad gauge, it could be a loose connection... it could be a bad sender. All easy stuff. Don't let the gas gauge worry you too much. The aux fuel pump is actuated by a separate float.

    MEP 802 or 803

I have a 5k for my personal backup... but I have a gas range, no AC, a well, and a couple freezers. My 5k wont run my electric dryer (going gas as soon as this one dies), nor my double wall oven. But I am OK with that trade-off (can cook on the gas range with overhead hood or on/in wood stove...

So you owe it to yourself to go read all the data plates and power supplys on the items you want to run, and determine your total amperage needs. From there, you see what MAXIMUM draw is, and formulate what you need and dont need to keep life going as you want it.
  19. Light in the Dark

    MEP 802 or 803

I assumed AC use was not optional during the summer months in SC (I've been to Myrtle Beach in June... waaaaaaaay too hot and sticky for this Yank), and likewise for heat (which I assume is electric based on the first post). Either will be pulling a good chunk of the 5ks output. Do you have a...
  20. Light in the Dark

    MEP 802 or 803

Welcome to SS. You are going to want an 803. Your AC alone is gonna pull probably 20A. (and the rated output of the 802 is 26A @ 240V). The rated amperage @ 240V for the 803 is 52... so thats where you need to be, to keep all your items running. I don't think you will have wet stacking concerns...
