    Hood/cawl replacement

:?: What is a good source for a good rust-free Deuce/5-Ton cab? :?: I'm looking at possibly restoring a 50+ year-old 5-Ton, and it has a few rusted bits. (All areas are patchable, but I'm thinking that a "rust-free" cab & parts would be easier/cheaper in the long run...) The cab of the 5-Ton...

Can a Deuce Hard Top also be used on an early M60 series 5-Ton?

    Removing inner tire

Take a close look at the threads and you should be able to tell whether they are RH or LH. AT FIRST you can probably ASSUME that studs/buds/nuts on the RH side are RH, & studs/buds/nuts on the LH side are LH. Try to remove them w the air gun using this assumption & IF THEY RESIST take a closer...

    Removing inner tire

The Bud nuts & the Outer nuts should be handed the same on a particular wheel stud. i.e. left & left, right & right OTHERWISE you'd be loosening the bud nut as you are trying to tighten the outer nut! All lugs on the left side of the truck should be LH, and all lugs on the right side of...

    Hood/cawl replacement

You shouldn't need to remove the bed, just the other items you mentioned. And wiring, and anything else connected, of course. IDEALLY you would lift it up via an overhead gantry, swing it out of the way, swing in the replacement, lower it down, reassemble everything, and whola! Being in the...

    Murphy strikes again!!

I gave up on doing repairs outside in bad weather YEARS AGO! I had a pick-up truck MANY years ago that was my daily driver. Had recurring issues with the transmission front seal, so I got really good at removing & installing the trans in my parent's driveway (I was just a kid back then...)...

    Hood/cawl replacement

YUP! You ALMOST ALWAYS find more rust when yoiu start removing the visibly rusted parts!! Take a REALLY GOOD LOOK at your current cab & I'll bet you'll start finding other areas that are rusted. If you can get a replacement cab for a reasonable price just do the swap. You will be SO GLAD...

Just took Queen Lola for a spin

Yes, CLEARLY it was YOUR Truck's FAULT!! Not much point in trying to argue that point! HOPEFULLY Queen Lola has learned her lesson & she won't damage the wife's truck again!! GOSH, I SO MISS being married!!! :-P How do I manage to make decisions on my own?!? signed...

    my service shop is fired.

I'm betting that the initial service instructions just said "brake lights don't work", without any further description to just check the fluid level. So the mechanic was left to interpret what was needed to be done. I have WAY TOO MANY horror stories of my cars/trucks not being...

    Removing inner tire

USUALLY!! But occasionally you'll find a few RH-lugs/studs on the left, and even LH-lugs/studs on the right. It appears that sometimes they use whatever is available. Always a good idea to look at the end of the studs for an "L", or just take a close look at the exposed threads.

    Murphy strikes again!!

Don't feel too bad.... Murphy stops by to "help" me on most of my repairs & projects! Now I routinely plan 2X the time to get a repair/project finished. & somehow I STILL run out of time!! aua

    AH! OK, I get it!:-D

    Good Deal or Not

An MF swap has been done, and done, and done again.... The performance of an MF w an OD trans is well known. That's not the point of the question.....
