I tightened the power steering bracket, and my starter is good. The sound really seems to be coming from the ip. Is that common? No one here seems to complain of sound, just leaks. My truck runs good, maybe just a slighty lower rpm at start at best.
I have a sound like a vibration of a loose bolt etc. That only occurs in low rpm, just above idle, and stops at "cruising" speed. I think it may be coming from the injection pump. My reading tells me that injection pumps usually leak upon failure. Is this sound common to a failing ip? Or should...
My m1009 has been smoking slightly at startup(white) and under a heavy load smokes black. Under normal use it does not smoke at all. I believe I may hear a tapping coming from the ip. I also noticed that the other day the motor turned an extra crank or two after I killed the ignition. I cleaned...
When I look at my m1009 at a distance, my rear wheels appear slightly out of level, the top of the wheel pointing slightly inward. My truck does pull slightly to the right. I have no vibrations etc. seems fine. Is this a symptom of a worn part, or am I just overly critical? ( I do meticulously...
My wait light has begun to cycle on and off during the afterglow time as my relay cycles on and off. It only happens if I actually am traveling down the road, most often I allow the m1009 to idle long enough for my kick down switch to drop my rpms before I actually go anywhere. The truck fires...
Ive got new 32 11.5 15 BFG AT's on my M1009. I had an alignment soon thereafter when I noticed the outermost portion of the front tires really wearing quickly. The Driverside then seemed to resume normal wear, however the passengers side is now really wearing quickly. I noticed the long tie rod...
The rubber hose attaching to the fuel supply pump on my m1009 appears to be pre bent (and leaking) . I cant find a part # in the 20tm. I saw a thread where someone had just used standard hose, I do worrry about collapse under vaccum however. I need to replace mine asap. Anyone know a part# or...
Ilink ended up replacing the shift linkage bushing that is just beyond the firewall. On the column in the engine compartment. Don't lose the little plastic insert on your existing one if it is even still there at all. Problem solved.
I am not so much after the tension on the lever itself front and back, but the tension that keeps the indicator needle in place. I have absolutely no problems slipping out of gears, but can move my shifter lever a good inch or so up and down in any given gear. I am trying to understand what...
My gearshift lever has quite a bit of play in it, just at the column, everything shifts well, and locks in gear positively, the lever is just sloppy and vibrates slightly at the steering column, making an annoying buzz. I searched the int. and unit tms, but remain a bit confused as to what...
Today my ground wire at the negative cable on the front battery fried. My gpr has lately made some excessive grinding sounds, but that problem seems to have passed. Hasn't happens in about a week. I have cleaned my ground connections, have the dog head mod, and my gpr and glow plugs are about...
When I start my m1009, im hearing the gpr begin to grind, as though it is rapidly opening and closing when it is supposed to turn off. This problem seems to be aggravated by moisture. The GPR is about a year old, its the borg warner one. I got new wellman plugs at the same time. I have done the...
I am hearing a sound that I believe to be my glow plug relay failing, but am unsure. When I start my m1009, every once in a while, I hear a continuous clicking, like the sound of the gpr, only so rapid it almost sounds like a grind. It comes from that area. I have done the Doghead mod. I also...
The rear seal at my slip yoke is leaking. So is the seal between the main and rear housings. I just need a proper part # for the rear output seal, and I need to know if the rear housing can just simply be un bolted. I believe the rear housing appears to just be sealed with regular rtv. Can I...
Thank You, Doghead. I guess it would be prudent to search the whole site, as opposed to just the CUCV forum. As it goes, I sucked some brake fluid from my master cylinder with a turkey injector. (Cajun Chef, of coarse) then mixed that throughly with some water. A few minutes later, the brake...
Is there any way I can tell what type of brake fluid my m1009 is running? I know they call for dot5, I just dont want to add dot5 to dot3, I understand the fluid then jells. Maybe just do a small sample mix? Is there anything I can look for?
I used Classic chevy truck parts of America. I have also used LMC. Overall, Most all of the items I have purchased from Classic Chevy were of better quality. Particularly the seals and weatherstrip.
I just did mine with a m16x1.5x100mm bolt I got from fastenal, stacking washers up as it drew in... Word to the wise, either get the installer, or do what I did carefully, and by hand. My buddy bottomed the long bolt out in my crank with an impact. Luckily it was on its lowest setting. Still...
