Winch Disaster! Three Donkeyss hard at Work!

I've used my Deuce winch a number of times safely and sanely and with any PTO winch and manual trans you need to use some common sense. Being anywhere but in the drivers' seat is foolish in case there is an emergency. ALWAYS, use two people, and both need to know what they are doing and...

No more $50.00 starting bids for Demil B & Q Property

I'd think a "yard sale" would be in order, or perhaps a good old fashioned on-site auction to unload all those little items, and let the buyer sort and haul the results. Many businesses have done this to unload excess stock and actually make money from it too, while only involving just a few...

    Power washing

For most stuff, unless its really heavy mud, or dried on mud, or thick grease, I just use a shot of Castrol SuperClean and a garden hose. It usually cleans everything up pretty well. A good stiff brush and soap will get off most trail dust and grime.

    Power washing

In my experience with most vehicles, no water in the exhaust or intake, is pretty much a no brainer. Stay off of any electrical connections waterproof or not with high pressure, other than a quick blast over in normal washing.A shot of WD40 or the like on the electricals isn't a bad idea to...

    Deuce for practical off-road work

13,000 lbs of stuck.....anything can be buried, but with the winch, self recovery is an option. Keep in mind that without something of comparable size, you'll be doing a lot of digging for a long time to extract your deuce, so drive accordingly:

    My herd of deuces.....

Actually here in VA, you can get a CDL just by taking the test......takes longer than going the school route, but just sayin' and all..... :D

    towing

And that is usually in combination with the tow vehicle factored in....A loaded trailer with a run-of-the-mill passenger car and the trailer itself usually pushes the limit.... I brought my M715 home with a full-size Dodge Crew Cab LWB pickup, and a 12,000 Lb trailer, with electric brakes on...

    towing

On a trailer, you will be better off. That said, still not safe, just better off. In your initial post, you asked about flat towing the deuce with a vehicle half its size, and many posted responses that were very truthful as to the results they've had. It isn't worth what you'll save on the tow...

    towing

I'd pay the $$$ to have it towed home. Last I checked to have an M211 towed about 60 miles it was around $450. Weel worth it in my opinion. The towing company has the insurance and the lawyer to cover themselves if the going goes bad. Also keep in mind that the backhoe was probably on a...

    Insurance What To Do

Have you tried Geico or Progressive? I don't know for sure if they cover these trucks. I wouldn't be as concerned about the comprehensive as the liability with a 12,000 lb truck. You'll do a lot more damage if you run over someone's ride with a deuce. I'd keep some pretty heavy bodily injury...

    What's your maintenance philosophy?

With any vehicle, I try to stay on the PM just to keep long walks home to a minimum. I don't know how many miles I have driven total over the years, but I can count on less than 3 fingers how many times I've had to be towed back in. As stated above, brakes and steering are two areas not to...

International Title Service --- A+ SERVICE!

It was less than $150 for all the paperwork from ITS. The DMV charges were extra, and I forget what they were now. I think around $70 for the title and tags. I can look it up when I get back in to home next week.

International Title Service --- A+ SERVICE!

I regularly use ITS for motorcycle and vehicle titles, and I can only say good things about them. No fuss, no muss. They basically buy and then sell back to you, your vehicle on paper from Alabama, a state that requires no titles for anything pre-1974. Any vehicle newer than that goes through...

Upgrading a CUCV's max towing capacity?

Pulling weight never bothers me nearly as much as stopping it. Even with really good trailer brakes, most truck systems of years gone by were marginal at best. When there was nothing better 25 years ago, we didn't know any better and routinely pushed our brakes to the limit. I'd go for...

    Mashed Potato Oil

Sounds like this is some sort of odd reaction between the WVO and the motor oil. Just a guess. If there was an issue of solidifying WVO it would be a non-issue in a hot engine, but a totally cold engine maybe. Even then, in the summer, the engine probably would not get cold enough for that...

Anyone ever submit a claim to GL?

Of the two vehicles I have inspected, both were not as they were represented by GL plain and simple. Both were listed as driven in. Neither was running, but were advertised as such, by the driven in description. One was missing a starter, the other, all the driveshafts. They may have been...

Question about burning used Motor Oil as Fuel.

I don't think the contents of your fuel tank will be of much consequence to the local authorities, if you don't have ICC numbers on your truck, or are not overloaded on the interstate. I drove my M715 around with no state inspection sticker for months, regularly passing cops with not one...

    M35A3 pics

Generally on any engine, gas or diesel, it isn't a good idea to shut down if the temp is higher than normal. The reason being, that when you shut a really hot engine down, first, the water stops circulationg, so the temp will climb even higher for a few more minutes afterward. Ever watched a...
