    84’ M1009 Glow plugs

I don’t try to start or continue online arguments. Way too many ways to interpret the written word wrong and get a feud started when none was intended. With that written, this is an observation. Not an argument. You are very correct that an all stock CUCV glow plug and starting system works...

    84’ M1009 Glow plugs

The 60G plugs are what they tried to sell you probably. Those are self regulating glow plugs. They shouldn’t explode or swell like other models. To make them work you either have to trim or cut the blade on the glow plug or replace the wiring plug on the truck side. The 13 G plugs while a...

M1007 - CUCV Suburban Clone Build Thread

The pictured fore stock mount shouldn’t be a problem. However, since the Suburban floor is different than the truck floor. The butt stock mount might take some imagination.

M1007 - CUCV Suburban Clone Build Thread

I don’t know where the truck rifle mounts go. The m1009 rifle mounts will fit the suburban though I didn’t use them because the rear speakers are in the way. I kept the speakers.

    1951 Reo M48-New Toy

The picture I posted was while I was driving it. 1st low at 450 rpm idle.

    1951 Reo M48-New Toy

You have to drive it as a bare frame too! This is my ‘53 REO after I pulled the cab:

    Hard Shifting.

The IP mounted regulator is adjustable and it really should make a difference you can feel when you move it around. Have you changed the vacuum part on the transmission? One of my trucks wouldn’t shift at all with the IP valve hooked up and was in 3rd by 10 mph if I bypassed it. Turns out the...

2023 TX MV Rally Buy/Sell/Trade Thread

OK Carnac. The last time you were at the Rally 4 years ago I bought several of your Snap-On impact socket sets. Since I am a Snap-On snob, I always need more. Specifically metric combination wrenches are my current need. Maybe a 3/8 and or 1/4 torque wrench too. I don’t need cases, boxes or...

715 with 6BT cooling fan options

I put a 1993 6BT with the stock fan and fan clutch attached into a M715. I moved the radiator which looked just like yours forward about 1/2 inch. I notched the front valence to do this. There was a guy on the M715 zone from your part of the country that did several 6BT conversions to...

    M1008 throttle smoke

Yep, white smoke usually means a bad head gasket. Blue is oil past the valve seals and black is too much fuel. Kind of unique to indirect injection diesels is oily white smoke which mean bad glow plugs.

    M1028 6.2 Diesel won't stay running.

It reads like you are turning it off when you let go of the starter position on the key. If that is the case then ignition switch alignment might be the cure. Just to be sure there are a couple of work around you can do to test. The pink wire on the top of the injection pump is the power lead...

    Center mount Turbo M1008

Looks Like a fun project. Did you also add a 4L80E?

Glow plug lost through combustion chamber cup

Glad you got it out. Sorry you had to pull the head. I would suggest replacing the plastic rocker arm buttons while you have it apart.

Replacing transfer-case with divorced 205 install help

The NP200 heat issue gets argued and debated on the M715 zone just about annually. The best I can figure. About 20%-30% can run all day with the engine at redline and have no problems. The rest can’t handle more than 2500 rpm drive shaft speed for more than about 45 minutes before they get...

Replacing transfer-case with divorced 205 install help

I read your post several times and am still confused. You have a 6BT with an automatic in your truck already? If so, then getting a 4 wheel drive automatic and a married NP205 might be your best option. Just a single crossmember for the transmission and transfer case that way. Everything else...

    Speedometer going crazy

I remember that old thread. I didn’t post to it then, but I used it when I had the same bouncing problem. I ended up pulling my speedometer, lightly cleaned, oiled it and used a pneumatic drill to check function on the bench before I installed it again. All these years later it still works...

1984 cucv Engine oil type 6.2l diesel

Rotella 15-w40 is what you will find at Walmart and just about any parts store. If no turbo I would suggest the T4 non synthetic. If you have a turbo or plan to let it sit for months between uses then the T6 synthetic might be better for your engine. You can use any brand. I just know Rotella...

    IP/Injectors for 6.2 Turbo with 6.5 Heads

The DB2 4911 was the factory GM 6.5 turbo IP for about 6 weeks. Then they went to the drive by wire DB4. If you have a 6.5 mechanical IP which has slightly bigger internals than the 6.2 IP. Then you can have a rebuild shop set it to 4911 specs. However, I think that is overkill. I have a...

Glow plug lost through combustion chamber cup

Good idea on the vacuum. Trying to snake something in through the intake valve might also be an option. The intake has to come off anyway to do the head removal. Might be worth a try.

Glow plug lost through combustion chamber cup

I bought one of these Wi-Fi borescope a year or so ago: https://www.amazon.com/Cal-Van-Tools-84-WiFi-Boroscope/dp/B07VD9DDK4/ref=sr_1_3?crid=1HS0T7Q06EK28&keywords=Cal-Van+tools+Wi-Fi+borescope&qid=1675910146&sprefix=cal-van+tools+wi-fi+borescope%2Caps%2C207&sr=8-3 There is a magnet adapter...
