Fan switch for cab heater: suggestions

The resistor for low speed is a big ceramic thing. It looks like the ballast resistors used on point ignition systems. When running on low fan speed that resistor gets very hot. I used a zip tie to keep it out of the way and the zip tie sure did smoke a bunch about 15 minutes into my first drive...

    Front end rebuild

That leaf spring plate movement makes me wonder if your U bolts are tight. With the engine running have someone turn the wheel lock to lock while you watch the axle at the leaf spring. The drivers side because of the steering linkage geometry will walk front to back as the wheel is turned. Doing...

    Front end rebuild

Check your rag joint as well. Something caused your steering wheel to now be off center. Rag joint or axle U bolt is my first 2 thoughts. Front end parts normally don’t suddenly go bad. If that is what really happened something broke or bent in that turn. Check the frame around the steering...

    M1008 no start

I think we need some common terms. The ignition switch has off, on and start. The glow plug light should come on when you turn the key to on. Then you have to hold the key in the start position. If your starter is not working with the key in the start position. Then you get to check wiring...

    Sorry...Another M101a1 wheels/tire question

Normal tires figure 3-5 years and replace. Military tires, especially the old NDT tires have nylon cords that hold up very well seem to last forever. But, they do age out before wearing out in most cases. It really depends on your intended mission for the trailer. Military vehicle speeds and...

Operation: Gertrude. Kendelrios M715 restoration thread

That lid orientation gets debated on the Zone every so often. The best guess is the manual pictures were taken before production or very early in production. I have seen people make canvas padded covers for the lid that are actually very comfortable arm rest. I sent you an email Rory.

    2023 TX MV Rally

Awesome. M715 for sure. Maybe RED depending on Colton’s schedule.

Brake fluid shooting out of remote reservoir?

You are correct. As I wrote, 299 things to go. Pedal on or off does come before my thought. Which with the shoes out of adjustment has fluid getting pushed back by long traveling shoes getting pulled back by springs.

Brake fluid shooting out of remote reservoir?

OK. That eliminates the airpack vent blowing brake fluid from your master cylinder out of the master cylinder. Just 299 more things to check and cross off…. Seriously. It reads like your brake fluid is rushing back into the master cylinder when you release the pedal with a lot of force. Now...

Brake fluid shooting out of remote reservoir?

Do you still have the vent line hooked into the reservoir system? This happening with or without air really helps narrow things down.

How does HMMWV shut down? Fuel shut off solenoid questions.

Those hand cranks breaking bones supposedly is what motivated Kettering to develop the electric starter and the Dayton Elecitric Company (DELCO) to make them after a friends wife died of infection after breaking her arm trying to start a vehicle.

How does HMMWV shut down? Fuel shut off solenoid questions.

Way back when I only owned a single 6.2 in a m1009. I installed a rebuilt IP, got it started and then it wouldn’t turn off when I turned the key off. This was in 2011 and there was a thread similar to this one where blocking the return line will kill the engine was mentioned. I used a pair of...

    M1008 Starter problems

You can remove the starter, remove the solenoid and then install the starter again. That will allow you to push the drive gear out by hand.

How does HMMWV shut down? Fuel shut off solenoid questions.

I have been trying to figure out a way to run and stop the engine without electricity as well. Keep the ideas coming.

Cucv 1009 window going off track

As I wrote in my reply a few post up. The switches degrade over time and the best thing to do is add one of these kits: https://www.lmctruck.com/1973-91-chevy-gmc/cc-csb-heavy-duty-power-window-harness

    M1008 Starter problems

If you switch from the direct drive starter to a reduction drive you have to get a new support bracket. Here is a video I did showing the different starters and brackets: I have success using a 1/4” drive socket set with about a 6” extension to loosen the wire holding nuts while the starter...

Cucv 1009 window going off track

Since no M1009 came from the factory with power windows. Several questions: Did someone just swap in the mechanisms or entire doors? Have you ever lubricated the rollers inside the doors? How are they wired into the stock fuse panel? If entire doors were swapped and the wiring looks decent...

    Electrical WTFs

The trailer brake controller was added by someone. I suggest you start by tracing the wires for it. Fix or remove any faults you find. Once that is fixed or removed. The -20 TM troubleshooting section will walk you step by step what to check, test and fix in the proper order.
