    M60a3

Yes we in Uncle Sam's Misguided Children used M60A1s in the first Gulf War (2nd Tank Battalion)...our 1st Tank Battalion brethren got brand-new M1A1s off of RO-RO ships, and the difference was night and day. The M60-series is VERY maintenance-intensive, the M1A1 was so much better in every...

    Threw a Torque Rod today

Too bad you're in the "nicer" part of Nevada; if you were closer to the armpit of the state (Vegas), I'd be happy to give you a hand. Your suspension should be OK, they are made to handle a lot of flex & movement. Some great advice here from posters above! I've found it helps to have a 20-ton...

    Need Advice

I own a couple of Deuces, a 931, a 920, and have driven a 915 as well as a 1070. My favorite truck to drive is still the Deuce; it has its own character that is completely separate from any other truck. Double-clutching (or even clutchless shifting), as well as heel-toe shifting is an art unto...

    Fuel leak woes

I was just going to post this same thing! My neighbors' Deuce is at my house now getting rebuilt after sitting for 10+ years, and all of the fuel hoses I removed did not have the inserts....I've had experiences with this before as detailed (with pics) in this post. Make sure you have the...

    Tailgate Shipment Ideas?

Items can be shipped from one store to another at very reasonable rates, they call it Third-Party Logistics (3PL). Items can be in a wood box/crate or strapped to a pallet. If your items are not stored inside a crate/box, they will not be insured against loss/damage. Submit your online rate...

Rusty Primer and Behr Paint over existing paint.. to use or not to use?

YES. If the primer is an enamel, it is best to wait approximately 3 weeks for it to fully "gas out" and cure properly. Afterwards, lightly scuff it and apply the Behr for best results.

Engine sputters when hot. NOT ignition coil this time???

Try to route your fuel lines away from anything hot, as best as you can, and do NOT run any fuel with ethanol in it. You might be experiencing a form of vapor lock (common on older engines with ethanol added to fuel).

    R6602 vapor lock

Don't run any fuel that has ethanol in it; it will absorb moisture from the air, which settles at the bottom of your fuel tank & will rust it out. It also contributes to vapor-locking. Look for non-ethanol fuel.

    M925A2 Delco Style Alternator

Yes, I had a spare battery cable to run in addition to the stock charge wire; both run to the B+ terminal and seem to work quite well.

    M925A2 Delco Style Alternator

As promised, here are a couple of pics of my alternator running in my M931A2. 28.3 Volts. [thumbzup]

M939A2-series Fuel Prime Fixes (No start, lost prime, won't start)

When I was initially replacing the in-tank return lines & fittings, I noticed that my left & right treadplate step decks above the fuel tanks were cracked, bent, and in poor condition. I removed them and found significant rust issues, as if these decks came off of another truck...makes you...

M939A2-series Fuel Prime Fixes (No start, lost prime, won't start)

Is your M939A2-series 5-ton truck refusing to start after sitting overnight or longer (losing its prime, lost prime, no start)? Will it start on one tank but not the other? Tired of having to manually prime your IP (Injection Pump) to get your truck started? Well then I hope to put most of...

    Yukon Men Show and CUCV

I'll second that! Not to mention that in my opinion you are giving your truck the ultimate honor by allowing it to serve the fine folks of Tanana & surrounding areas, once its days of selflessly laboring for the fine men & women of the Armed Forces were over. Now it can embark on a proud...

    A big thanks to Floridianson

Haven't had the privilege of meeting him, but he's been a wealth of invaluable knowledge & advice.

Early Mile Marker winches used to use the power steering pump to run off of; with your ingenuity I wouldn't think it would be too difficult to make something work.

    Modified M105A2

Sounds like you're off to a good start then. The weight of the axle & wheels/tires is around 350-400 pounds (-ish). It's still going to weigh over 2K-lbs with the springs/axle/wheels/tires removed, if that helps any. It is worth it to get SF97 & title it while stock...then you can modify away...

Any chance you can scrounge parts to make the PTO drive a pump, which in turn can drive your winch(es)?
