    Squealing Belt Question

I personally have found that Gates belts do better on my 6.2 engines than any other brand I have tried.

    Timber Rattlesnake on Air Cleaner

We had the county wildlife biologist talk to our Trail Life Troop last night. She had a Timber Rattler in an aquarium that someone had found last week. That rattle would start buzzing when anyone got within a few feet from any direction all night long. I really hate that sound but as point...

    Outside air intake?

When I did the add on a/c to my M1009. I found duct tape on the floor vents with the top slide set to floor works real well. Unless you drive over 70 for a long period of time and the duct tape pops off from the air flow. I carry a roll under the drivers seat and reapply as needed. There...

Complete steering replacement on my K30

I also used a propane torch. The darn thing would not collapse until I got little bubbles at the slide joint. Then it moved very easily.

Complete steering replacement on my K30

That is why I didn't answer. The years are kind of varied depending on the source. Here is the part I bought and with just a little file work on the bottom of the column, fit perfect. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008VPWBTY/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Complete steering replacement on my K30

I just yesterday did the XJ shaft swap into my truck. Same basic u-joints as the flaming river ones pictured above. Amazing difference in how it drives.

M1007 - CUCV Suburban Clone Build Thread

I think the truck for the first time ever is now leak or even drip free. The original to the truck power steering box has leaked out several seals and is pretty loose. I have not found a new replacement that seems to me worth the price they want for them. I really don’t think a parts store...

    WMO in CUCV

Many have done it. Posted results normally conclude it works great. Then mostly those posters disappear from the web site. Some return a year or so later asking for help because their truck won’t start or the IP is bad. But, again very few people that post about running waste motor oil follow up...

    R985 radial engine Pratt Whitney

You did a great job on that. I agree with everyone else. Radial air cooled engines are the top of the art world for me. Nothing is better.

    m1009 motor mounts

Yes on the ORD cross member and mounts. I should have gone that way on my truck. Ease of changing the lift pump if nothing else. Rich has that on his truck and it looks so much more mechanic and vehicle friendly than the stock on.

    m1009 motor mounts

I put the energy suspension inserts on my Cowdog project truck. The motor doesn't move, but I an feel a lot more vibrations inside the truck than any of my other 6.2 powered vehicles. My suggestion is to get the factory replacements. They should be good for another 30 years or so. I don't...

Complete steering replacement on my K30

That is pretty. I am gathering parts to replace my box and shaft. I haven't found the box I want yet but will do the XJ shaft swap. There is just too much slop in the system to be comfortable in the truck after getting out of a rack and pinion car.

    Wheel Bearings - Preload Question

Bearing preload is one of those things that every manual seems to have a different way of doing it, each of us were taught a different way and have seen other people do it different ways. We are all looking for the same end result. A seated bearing and the adjuster nut right at but not over...

    Bed weight

I used landscape timbers, 55 gallon drums and a Hi-lift jack to remove and store several beds.

M1007 - CUCV Suburban Clone Build Thread

I have the oil not going through the radiator. I installed one of the big coolers that Leroy's Diesel sells along with the braided steel lines to connect to the engine. Since the GEP engine has the bigger oil ports on the block. The stock 6.2 hoses/lines wouldn't have worked. Even though I...

M1007 - CUCV Suburban Clone Build Thread

Chris, I forgot to reply to your 2 core concern. Sorry. I was leery of that as well. The stock 4 core has about 3/8" surface area front to back per core. Which comes to around 1-1/2" heat exchange surface area per row. Which has to be doubled to account for the top and bottom, but I don't...

M1007 - CUCV Suburban Clone Build Thread

Ken, I wrapped the cross over near the radiator hose to protect it and the fuel line. I didn’t think about engine transfer hear. Good idea. Thanks, Tim

M1009 aka RED project under way

Well RED did great at college while he lived in the dorm and only did a few miles each week. This summer though, instead of coming home and working at the airport. He went and found a much better paying office job in College Station. He found it right before the spring semester ended. So, he was...
