WHERE TO RIDE IN TX or OK?

We had a M715 gathering in Gilmer back in 2005 at the same time the North Texas IH Scout club had a gathering at this place: http://www.barnwellmountainra.com/ One of our group brought a M35 and he did most of the trails just fine. Give them a call before you show up and they might have some...

    Truck-Lite LED Headlights----Finally Ordered a set.

The adjusters are just plastic plugs that snap into a square hole and have threads in the middle. CUCV drivers side is easy. Pull the headlight surround, unscrew the adjuster, look in there and pop out the old plastic part. You can reach in from behind to catch it. Either install new ones or...

Run Flats, New Tires, New wheels, questions?

Then more lube. If you can get one end after you have strapped it oblong, into the tire. An engine hoist sitting on top of the tire and hooked to the bottom end of the run flat might help you get it all the way in. Just be careful. That is a lot of stored up energy in those smooshed run...

    Injection pump help

Badger Diesel is nice to work with in my experience. The Stanadyne guy in Bryan is a gear head. He drives a 6.2 truck daily and was adamant the last time we talked that 5-8 years is all an IP is good for. Sitting or running. Of course he makes his living rebuilding them so of course he will...

    Kentucky bound

Chris, isn't Kentucky like 12 miles from your house? You are really going far this time.

Cold air intake ideas? HX40 turbo.

I have a Banks intake cap on my M1007 project. It is between the passenger headlight and the Slave port mount.

    It's back

Glad you have it going again. I have found 3 or 4 tanks of good fuel and lots of driving helps clear up the not wanting to wake up all the way long sitting engines. White oily smoke is normally an indicator for a cold cylinder. How are your glow plugs? White puff ball smoke is coolant and...

    Injection pump help

Is that $720 a new pump with no exchange? Even then, it is kind of high. My local guy wants $500 to rebuild one I bring him. So do all the other Stanadyne places within 200 miles of me.

    Injection pump help

Yes, I have been told that by Stanadyne people as well. They have a shelf life like a loaf of bread. A fresh rebuild is better. A 4911 that is wrapped in plastic sitting on a shelf waiting to sell for $50,000 the last 8 years is basically worthless as a runner. It will need rebuilding...

Cold air intake ideas? HX40 turbo.

It has to be from the side? GM has cutouts in the front valence for a cold air intake already. Actually they are there on both sides of the radiator. Sticking with your cone filter, you could build a box around it with the opening at the valence. GM and Banks both had air intake "caps" that...

    Injection pump help

Here is a good article about what all the different IP numbers mean: http://www.thedieselpageforums.com/tdpforum/archive/index.php/t-6775.html That basically talks about the mechanical pump people think will make their 6.5 run like a brand new electronic Cummins. Even though it won't. Here...

    Wiper motor overheating?

Check all that is listed above. But another good idea is to run a ground wire from one of the holes on the wiper body to the fender or any place you want on the truck body. The wiper ground strap design is pretty cheap.

    Should have listened :-)

I thought the same thing about the mistress. Never forget the internet is forever. Sounds like a great recovery. The above advice about MV's being herd animals is very correct. You need a trailer to go with it now. Plus a parts truck. Maybe a bigger truck to flat tow it, etc...

    gear ratio

Umm. The '53 might or might not be a Timken that had CV joints instead of u-joints at the knuckles. If so, then the '53 will have a smaller axle shaft diameter and a different spline count. There are several threads on here and across the web about Rockwell axle differences. If you are...

Has anyone converted a 6.2 into a turbo charged unit?

I think there are several terminology issues in this thread. There are people answering engine questions and other people answering HMMWV specific figment questions. Lots of confusion. Let's start with the engine. Yes, any 6.2 or 6.5 engine will bolt into the truck. Yes, any 6.2 or 6.5 head...

M1007 - CUCV Suburban Clone Build Thread

The washer isn't getting power because both the Gasser K10 wiper switch and the switch that was originally in the Cowdog are the wrong ones. Probably why the delay wipers don't work either. The proper 1987 with tilt, with pulse wiper switch seems to be made of unobtanium because I can't find...

    H1 Wheels 1 ton axles M1009

Like exactly 5 inches. I read that and walked over to one to measure. My eyeball sure thinks 5" is it. They fit my stock 3/4 ton Suburban perfectly. Which means with a 14 bolt rear axle, they will fit a M1009 perfectly as well.

    Brainstorming a few ideas/daily driver

I am going on almost 15 years now of daily driving some kind of MV to work just about every day. Most family trips too. I would caution you that they are probably not the best choice, they break, they are not user friendly, they leak, you cook in the summer and freeze in the winter most of the...

    H1 Wheels 1 ton axles M1009

They are 8 lug rims. They will not work on a stock M1009. However, I thought this thread was about somebody putting 1 ton axles under a M1009 and looking for rims?

    H1 Wheels 1 ton axles M1009

H2 rims will work very well also. You can normally find them around $300 for a set of 5 on Craigslist. Most have worn out 315/70 tires which are 35 x12.50. But, since they are 17 inch rims. Tires are actually cheaper than 16 or 16.5 tires. Get the 17 inch metric version of a 33 x12.50 and...
