Ah....then you need to pull the top and bottom plastic column shroud halves apart, remove the top, remove the 3 fasteners in the holes at the bottom, remove the bottom shroud and then look for the white disk that you can pull to unlock the shifter. More of a pain....I think pulling it locked up...
If you want to make your friend feel...smart..., show him the little tray to the right of the shifter in the centre console, take it out, open the flap that is underneath and then press the white lever that you see when you peek through the hole, towards the gear shift. That is the...
Here is a good thread for a late night read: https://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?56041-LDS-VS-LDT-and-the-real-differences
Basically, if you have a late model LDT, swap in the rocker assembly from an LDS and tune, as gimpyrobb said, for LDS power.
I think you are very much on the safe side. The consensus from many threads seems to be that you do not want to see more than 1250-1300 pre-turbo, so you do have a little wiggle room.
I'd be interested in what you think about the A3 with a sizeable load! On that note, the empty A2 Deuce is about 12,000 lbs (wo/w, tires missing) and the trailer...another 2800? Just bringing it up because the data plate on mine says "10,000 lbs" for highway towing. Probably stops fine with...
How did you do the hard top swap? Two burly men and lots of grunting or front loader help? Did you assemble it on the truck or put the whole thing on in one go?
I have a pre-turbo thermocouple in my LDS. FDC is bypassed and I am still wary of the power it has. No way would I turn it up more, even though it seems to hardly get up to danger temps, ever. That thing pulls like a freight train. The key is to drive it right; downshift and keep the rpm up, do...
Get their ferrules, too. You CAN use the brass ferrules from the plumbing section in the hardware store but they are a hair to wide and the compression nut won't grab a thread. Briefly touch the ferrule to the bench grinder on both open sides and - voila - they also work.
I just caught on that someone THREW THESE SOCKETS INTO THE DUMPSTER????? What the...? And I am sure these are not China-made, either. A small percentage of people are largely idiots.
DB556, you are planning a serious attack there! New filters, HH O-rings, oil change, coolant top up, all aired up.....she'll fire right up! Don't forget brake fluid and a means to bleed the brakes! I see you have duct tape, so you are going to be just fine!
Here is a helpful thread. Not all steps are relevant if you just do the seals (you do not have to drain the gear oil out of your axle)

The part that potentially sees high voltages is the regulator (mechanical energy goes in but no current flows out). I am not an expert on the mil spec alternators. A regular 12V car alternator is "expected" to survive being run without being connected to the batteries. Disconnecting the wires...
A knuckle boom is immensely practical to have. That one looks like a good size for the Deuce. As long as you can reach the rear of the bed and still have ok lift capacity. Are you going to shift the bed to the rear or shorten it?
Thanks for measuring and referencing! Yes, as I mentioned, level to the bed sides with river wash gravel I weigh in with about 6 metric tons load (slightly under). That is 12k lbs. It would put the truck just over the data plate load for highway use. I find that with a good hump in the middle...
David Matthews, if you plan to use the truck for your shop, and it doesn't have a winch, yet, then I would agree that a heavy duty electrical winch might be the better choice. Why? Because when people other than yourself drive this truck, they will be able to use the electric winch safely. The...
