Dangerous but I did see someone flash the field with a 12 volt battery and jumper cables once. Hooked up to the battery and then just tapped one of the output studs with the positive, neg was on the L0
I have had a lot of heavy equipment over the years and have worked in the winter snow plowing. We have at times mixed some kero with the fuel to keep the fuel from gelling, the only problem you may encounter is if you dont use all the kero blended fuel by the summer time. Its probably not good...
Congrats and good luck with your new generator!!! Try and get the battery hold down on the ground next to the generator in the one picture, doesn't appear that there is one on yours.
I had 2 MEP003 sets one with ask and one without. I had both set up in my driveway and took sound measurements with a good decibel meter. I'm no sound expert but the ASK only reduced noise by 10db. The ASK does make it a bit more tolerable but thats it. If I remember correctly 92 db vs 82 db.
Where do you have the set mounted? If you have it on the garage floor try standing on the ends and see if it rocks at all side to side, end to end. If you have it sitting on concrete or asphalt try moving it to a different spot. Try putting it on a level part of your lawn. I had one that would...
Take apart the connector by the oil filter housing and bypass the stater lock out switch, if the unit cranks over you know its the lock out switch. I have had a couple of these give me a hard time, usually if you run some emory or a nail board in between the contacts they will work.:grd:
Most of the gensets I have worked on, the fittings on the fuel lines can be removed and reused. The 15 ft fuel lines that come with the gen sets for aux fuel cans are the only one that I have seen with crimped on fittings. The fuel lines from the tank to pump, pump to pump, etc etc can be reused...
There really wasn't an issue with the unit just where I was running them. I moved off the blacktop driveway and now run the gensets on the grass or on my wood decked trailer. The area I was using wasn't exactly level and if I put the generator a certain way it would rock a little when off and...
I also have an 003 and an 002 with the ASK. When I got the units the insulation was torn in a few spots and dirty. I cleaned everything as best I could with solvent and then used Gorilla tape to cover all the insulation. Just kept running strips overlapping each strip as I went up the panels. I...
Looking at the picture of the fuel tank, the line missing on yours would go to the inlet side of the first electric pump. Its the main feed line and the fitting has a pick up tube on it. The other two tank fittings are return from the injection pump and the aux fuel supply line, and are just...
Jerry, Good point I'm going to check mine today. When the unit sits on the ground it does seem to teeter a bit if I step on one end or the other. How did you measure it? Strait edge, string line? Thanksaua
I can usually diagnose 12/24 volt electrical problems without to much trouble on most equipment I work on. But the schematic's on these keep me scratching my head and I get lost. :-?
Richard, Any updates? I just finished getting another 002 fired up and wow does it vibrate. It does dance around on the garage floor and the control box vibrates so bad its hard to read the gauges. This is also a fresh Tier2 reset with only 9 hours and it has a rebuild tag from an outside vendor...
