I bought a small 24v battery charger/mantainer mounted it on top of the output terminal box, plugged it into the conv outlet and just ran the wires over the fuel tank to the batteries using the alligator clamps that came with the charger. This will charge the batteries when running. I also...
From my experience, I would leave the bolt in the end of the crankshaft as you did to eliminate the chance of mushrooming the end of the shaft, making sure you have some free space as you indicated. Then tighten the puller up as tight as you can, take a hammer, a good sized one, and hit the...
I have replaced one new melton engine on an 003. I just went outside and looked at mine. There are 3 smaller wires one is on the pos stud of the starter, one is on the neg stud of the starter and the other one is for the solenoid. When I did mine I marked the wires with color coded tape so not...
Not sure about the starter wires, don't think if you had them wrong machine would start. If the wires were wrong i'm sure you would have some sparks also. The solenoid should snap into position with power applied and return when power is shut off. I have a jumper wire that I use to apply...
All done. New engine runs great. That gear reduction starter really spins fast, easier starts. Thanks for all the help guys!!!!!! P.S. When I get time I will pull the old engine apart and find out what let loose.
I lost an engine on my 003 during Sandy, it was a tagged rebuilt at 94 hours and ran good for about 20 hours, then something in the camshaft let loose. I got time yesterday to do a swap with a rebuilt crate engine I had in the shed. I am pretty well set up with a shop and forklift, still wasn't...
Been on MEP power since 10/29 at around 9pm. Had one rebuilt 94 hour 003 that quit after 20 hours. Then ran 005 for a day or 2. I have moved 003's and 005's around town to different shelters all week. And now this morning going to start an 005 at the church so people can vote. Power company...
Thanks for the help guys!!!!! Sorry I couldn't respond sooner. I kinda think maybe the cam is broken, no time to check it now. I have been busy moving 005"s around for the FD in our town. First the people shelter, then over to the animal shelter and now to a gas station that the PD has...
I had an 003 running for about 14 hours when it just quit. The engine cranks, but almost sounds like no compression, no smoke out the ex pipes either. Pulled the valve covers spun the motor, valves on the fist 2 cylinders just barely move, 3 + 4 dont move at all. Intake pushrod on #1 cylinder...
I have had my 003 running outside now for close to 10 hours, so far so good. The only problem I had was trying to keep it close to the garage under the overhang, seems thats an area that always collects leaves. The first hour or so the machine shut down because leaves had collected on the blower...
Like jeepin said check the starter lockout switch, disconect the cannon plug by the oil fill and jump it out with a cotter pin or paper clip. If the unit then fires up, pop the cover and check the switch. I had a few that all I had to do was run some emery cloth thru the contacts and they worked...
Spray all the linkage with wd40 and move the linkage by hand sometimes it helps unless the problem is internal. Be sure when the stop solenoid retracts the IP linkage moves up also. Sometimes it needs a little help the first couple of times. If the lever is all the way up and you still don't get...
I have a plasma cutter here that has a Max cut of 2" steel. It is wired 3 ph with a 60 amp breaker. You can wire it single ph but then the amperage draw jumps up to over 100 amps. 200 amp 3 ph is a lot of power, what make and model cutter are you working with?
