Yes or have really long arms!!!!!! I am working on one of these right now and can tell you it doesn't matter what terminal is pos or neg doesn't matter for testing. Remove the wires from the solenoid (so you won't back feed or hurt anything) and attach some jumper wires to the batteries, hook...
Put a meter or a test light on the solenoid to check if you have current first. I have had a few that were a bit slugish at first but worked theselves free with a little wd40. Sometimes just prying up lightly with a screwdriver will be all the help it needs
Maybe take the line off before the check valve and dump it into a can to see what kinda flow your getting. Were both exhaust pipes pumping black smoke?
Jim, Did you check when you were primimg the unit for a good return of fuel to the tank? Sounds to me like maybe a plugged return line. Black smoke usually means to much fuel or excessive load. I would start looking at the check valve and then making sure that lines back to the tank are clear...
I don't think you will put much of a load on the set thru the convenience outlets or is it recommended. To truly load test the unit you need to connect to the output lugs.
I have a few tires not holding air. Ordered orings and got some that were about 3/8" thick, the tire guy used soap, and could not get these orings to seat properly. He then found a smaller oring in his truck and that worked. I looked at the NSN and it seems .205-.215 is the correct thickness of...
Check the ground strap from the control box to gen frame, I have had some weird stuff go on, only to find out no ground at the box. That may help the D/C problems.
You must live in a very big house, I have an 005 on a pad at the FD here, no problem. I also have 2 more 005's on trailers that we move around town when needed. Either way works just fine.
The little plastic ball joint can be replaced with a steel joint, I got mine from the local speed shop. I'm not an expert but always wundered why such a critical part was made of plastic. The fuel filter housings should be cleaned and a little wire will get the crud out of the drain hole. I have...
Ok just so I'm on the same page here, you replaced IP and injectors, then ran the machine for 1/2 hour. Then the next day you changed the glow plugs? New glow plugs or used? Did you check the glow plug wires for voltage, maybe you knocked something loose when you replaced them. I hate to say...
I asked the same thing back in Aug/2012. Starting a diesel engine at 10 deg F and letting it run at 1800 rpm without any warm up is against everything I have learned working around trucks and heavy equipment. I know never to let these gen sets idle. But this is my question, if the damage...
