We received an 003 and an 005 for our Fire Dept. We intend to use them during power outages and floods in town. Most of the power will be used for civilians to pump out their homes and stores. The 003 was set at 120/240 single ph and mounted on a trailer. The 005 is on the 2 1/2 military...
Did you check all 4 cylinders for a comparison? Is the gen fully warmed up under some kind of load? If you don't load the generator it may not get hot enough to burn off any previous wet stacking condition. Are all of your glow plugs working properly? Just a thought but I have 1 gen that no...
Get a infared thermometer. After the unit is running under load check each exhaust port and you will see a big difference in temp on the bad cylinder. you will have to remove the exhaust cover on the louver box to do this test.
With the gen cold disconnect the cannon plug by the oil filter for the starter lock out switch. Turn the main switch to start and you should hear the solenoid click up into the run position. If that is working fine then run the set, to get it hot and shut down. Disconnect the cannon plug again...
Starting a diesel engine at 10 deg F and letting it run at 1800 rpm without any warm up is against everything I have learned working around trucks and heavy equipment. I know never to let these gen sets idle. But this is my question, if the damage that occurs is on the A/C side of the unit...
I was able to get some rubber belting from the local quarry off one of their stacking conveyors. It was 48" wide and I cut it 8 ft long. They have plenty of good used pieces laying around and were happy to get rid of some.
Try your local Cummins dealer. All of Onan numbers are right below the part description in the parts book. 5365-00-626-3963 is Onan 147-0133. I have called for many items and had them delivered to my door. The warehouse is in Tenn I think. All the parts you need were available the last time I...
Didn't get any time today but tomorrow I'm diving in head first on this. So if I understand this correctly the 400 hz VR is ok as long as it doesn't ground on the side of the control box? Or is there a better way to fix this problem? My machine is freshly painted and has an Onan Tag on the side...
Thanks for the help,I'll be checking that today. I used to work on heavy equipment and one of my many tasks was to trouble shoot some of the electrical problems on CAT equipment. They had there quirks but the electrical schematic was understandable. The schematic for these genset leaves me...
Got a MEP002 and checked and adjusted the starter lock out switch, works as it should with a .35 gap when the machine is running. The problem is the starter will still engage. I took apart the connection by the oil filter and I have continuity to grnd on both wires going back to the control...
Dave, A little trick I use to check the fuel shut down solenoid is to disconnect the starter lock out wiring by the oil filter. This takes the starter out of the loop and when you move the main switch to the start position you can hear the solenoid click into place without the noise of the...
I have an 003 that I aquired for our FD. I did all my usual pre start checks and got it running just fine. I went to hook up my load bank in 3 phase to do a load check and had no power on L2 nor would the % of load meter work. I took the side covers off and checked for loose or missing wires,all...
