We were 24° here this morning. The Blue Bomber took about 5 seconds of cranking to start and didn't really make any loud clanking. The M1009 fired up instantly as usual and had real loud clanking like you describe.

It could also be the rod going from the key down the column to the actual switch. My USAF Suburban had the "two hands and snap a fingernail" effort to turn the key in the cold. I swapped out key cylinders and it didn't help. Middle or lower column problem.

Sounds like you got a fan and blower from a truck with A/C. Non a/c fans are different.
The low coolant light sensor is on the passenger side of the radiator. Unplug the wire, clean the plug and terminal then put it back together. They all flicker it seems. New senders are pretty cheap too.

Now, for your problem. Diesels are simple. They have no valves to control air flow which means if the air filter isn't clogged and the exhaust doesn't have a fat rat living in it. Air is normally not the problem.

Badger Diesel sells kits of the return hoses. End caps for the back injectors. No more little bitty clamps needed either. I bought a set from them and then ordered a bunch of line just to keep as spares. Maybe $30 total with shipping for 3 or 4 kits.
The flashers and the brake lights are the same bulb. All Chevy trucks of that body style have it so brakes take precident over flashers. Think about it from the view point of the person right on your bumper.

Yep, do it from behind the transfer case. Use locking extensions if you can because once you break that bolt free, all your extensions and socket could go flying.

Green wire is what the factory harness had at the glow plugs. Orange wire up at the relay. One big orange wire for each side of the engine. You can't miss them once you start looking.
