    4th Semi-Annual Texas MV Rally

I spent my entire lunch hour writting a post for this thread. The storm rolled through and the power went out. Lost it. Let me just put it simply. I have attended 14 National and State level military truck gatherings since 2004. Be them FE's or Rally's. Some where pre pay, some where take...

    An Amusing Unimog quote...

I get it now greenjeepster. You just like to argue. I can pick on British vehicles because I have a few. No Land rovers though, so no picking. Here is my next topic of arguement: BLUE!

    4th Semi-Annual Texas MV Rally

Jeff, This is not meant to be a flame post. If you take it that way, then I am sorry. Here are the facts. Lincoln on his own about 2 years ago started posting about having a gathering. Nobody volunteered a place to hold the event. Nobody offered to run the thing. Nobody offered to throw...

    An Amusing Unimog quote...

What happened to picking on British stuff? That was fun. This other bickering is just a side show. Just to get that going again, here is a tool that any British car owner should have. The magic smoke replacement machine: http://www.mez.co.uk/lucas.html

glow plug removal and voltage question m1009

Swapping out glow plugs is as easy as doing spark plugs on a gasoline V8 from the same time period. I did a set this morning in maybe 20 minutes. 3/8" deep socket and a ratchet wrench. Now, if you have older non self regulating plugs. What is in there could have swollen up bigger than the...

    Chevy D10 M1009 Transmission help!

Forget Alldata. The military had something much, much better. The Technical Manual. Go here to find, download, print them all: JATONKA's CUCV TM download page The last two digits are the numbers everybody uses when discussing the TM's. The -10 is like a civilian owners manual. The -20...

    4th Semi-Annual Texas MV Rally

I sure am glad you live 100 miles or so away. A Sprint car would be fun to be around again. I was involved with that back in my much younger, stupider and single days. I had the nerve at one time to go into a left hand turn, hit the throttle and turn right. What a rush. Keep the car away...

    New M1009 in SoCal

Make sure your transfer case and both axles still have oil/lube in them. If they do, clean of the leaks and drive happy. If one is empty, you found your leak.

    4th Semi-Annual Texas MV Rally

Thanks for the thoughts guys. I haven't been able to get online as much as normal. As of now, I plan to attend. Just don't know what vehicle/vehicles will be making the trip yet. Probaby just me from my family though.

STE/lCE tester- what do they do and do they exist anymore?

There is an rpm circuit in the CUCV system. The signal comes from the alternators. I am not sure if there is some kind of party trick we can do or not with 3 of them. Not sure I really want to find out either.

STE/lCE tester- what do they do and do they exist anymore?

Hmm, maybe I will bring the one I have along and you can help me get the display working.

    shifting question

Did you have the tcase in 4 low? I ask because that will more than half your speed or double your rpm for a given speed.

STE/lCE tester- what do they do and do they exist anymore?

Simplified Testing Equipment/Internal Combustion Engine boxes are still out there. Find one with all the connectors and wires and adaptors. If it isn't all there, don't buy it. If you read the STE/ICE TM, you will be amazed at all it can test. RPM, actual numbers for fuel psi, oil psi, trans...

    M101 electrical question

I agree it is a lot better trailer. I think the hand holds in the corners are pure genius too. I wasn't trying to slight the CDN trailer. He asked about the wiring plug and I gave him the proper answer. The 101/416/CDN101 differences have been hashed, discussed and mentioned so much here...

    M101 electrical question

That is a 416. The Canadian 101 is the US 416. Yes, the plug will fit your 1009 and yes it will pull it great. Now, are the wires any good and do the lights on the trailer work? Who knows.

Has anyone built an electric or manual throttle lock?

The fast idle solenoid does not have enough power to move the throttle up by itself. You have to move it first. The way it is supposed to work is this. There is something called the fast idle and cold advance switch located at the rear outside of the passenger side head. That switch is...

M1028 starts and idles fine but occasionally changes rpm while driving

Fire it up, let it warm up and get off of high idle. Then, use your finger or a screw driver and push the throttle lever up a little. Then hold it. Hold it for at least 30 seconds. I have one that once I am steady for a while, it will start to race up in rpm even though I haven't moved. 27...
