What type of terminal ends are they? Narrow spade, wide spade or bullet? More that likely they are 12v and they lied about them being 24v.

Welcome from Okie City. There are a couple of things to put on your radar. The KAMO (Kansas, Arkansas, Missouri and Oklahoma) rally in October. And the MVPA Route 66 cross country event in 2017.

Your glowplug system needs to be checked out. Many threads in the CUCV Helpful Threads sticky and the TM 9-2320-289 tech manual. NEVER user starting fluid on a diesel with glow plugs unless you know for sure the system is disabled. If not you may find a nice window in the side of the block.
