    New to CUCV

Welcome to the fun. No matter the miles, it is still a 25 year old truck and will need some work. The choice is yours about where you do that work. At home at your pace or on the side of the road. Reading through the CUCV section on here will take days and answer just about every situation...

    4th Semi-Annual Texas MV Rally

I think a bobbed truck would do ok on 75% of the trails at BVOR. I was driving home from the LSMVPA meeting last night and had a thought. Most of the people at the meeting were wearing some kind of MVPA t-shirt, including Colton. I have a few as well. I also have a pair of Rally t-shirts...

    1028 highway ?

Over drive will only slow down the engine and the front part of the transmission. The t-case, drive shafts and axles are still spinning the same speed. Only taller tires or different gears will slow the t-case down. Besides running a slower speed of course. This is the first I have ever...

Old style turnsignals / rear lights - Question

That is a great picture of the old Spartan made relay flasher box. To continue the arguement that isn't an arguement. The M715 came from the factory in January 1967 with the Spartan blinker system. They changed over starting in October 1967 to the solid state blinker control box as they...

    Fuel Issue on Startup?

Air molecules are smaller than fuel molecules. That means air can get sucked in and no fuel will spill out of a small hole. Any air leak between the inlet to the IP all the way back to the tank can cause the fuel to drain out over night. Some members have started parking nose down when the...

I need some engine mount replacement instruction.

Change out the lift pump while you are down there and making more room to get to it. Another option is to use an engine hoist and pick up one side at a time instead of jacking up. However you are more comfortable.

Old style turnsignals / rear lights - Question

As I started my post above. I was not trying to start an arguement. I know and acknowledge you are correct about the early trucks having no blinkers and the passenger side light cover being the black out stop light. However, at some point in time. I am going to say 1956-1964. A non solid...

    I P rebuild ?

Yep, doing the work itself is just a matter of following directions and keeping stuff clean. Will the pump work? Won't know until you flow test it or install it. Will it flow the same to all the cylinders? Won't know that at all unless you have a flow bench. I would rather pay the guy...

Old style turnsignals / rear lights - Question

Not to start a huge arguement here. However, the small bucket lights were used as blinkers. I know for sure on factory fresh M715's. I can imagine they were used the same way on M151 trucks and probably Gama Goats if goats had blinkers. Charles is correct, the left bulb #1 in your picture is...

    Occasional Starting Problem

Picking up the frame some makes for more room when getting the starter out. It will come right out without jacking anything up however.

Truck shutting off after driving/ return valve?

Stanadyne dealers have them. Ebay had some brand new ones the other day. Make sure you specify 12 or 24 volt.

    M1009 Voltmeter

Check each battery by itself. One of your regulators is probably shot and sending out more than 14.4 volts which is what the max should be.

    School me on M105s

Glen, What are you wanting to know? I like the dual air line, dual wheel pivoting landing leg, rear stabalizer, fold in and out lift point versions myself. With the fiberglass sides and steel bow. However, others might like other options. I would suggest you keep the straightest, rust free...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately? - Part 1

I replaced all 4 front door hinge pins and put new door latch post on with the little plastic cover. Drivers door opens and closes with no effort or noise. Colton did the passenger side and it still takes a bit of a push to latch all the way. Not near as much as before though.

    33" tires on M1009 CUCV

SeeBee Mike, Do you mean the tie rod boot or possibly the drag link boot? Ball joint boot on the steering knuckle would be kind of hard for a tire to get to. I have 33 x 12.50 BFG A/T tires on mine and they aren't even close to toughing any part of the steering system. Are you sure you have...

    M1009 Voltmeter

26 volts is what the yellow/green dividing line is supposed to indicate. 28.8 volts is what the little hash in the green section is supposed to be. No glow plugs on a warm engine not running with good batteries should be around 25.2 volts which will be just below the yellow/ green dividing...

Truck shutting off after driving/ return valve?

The vacuum thing on the side of the pump is the valve that controls how much vacuum your transmission sees. Moving it front ward or back ward varies where your shifts occur. The black thing next to the throttle arm with the green wire is your fast idle solenoid. You really do need it when...

    New V-100

Rory, Are we going to have to remove our boots and put on white gloves before we look inside at Temple? Just trying to plan ahead on the packing list.

    Loose Front Hub HELP!!

The ring in the picture is a royal pain to get out the first time. The second and third time to actually. Screwdrivers and pliers will basically never get it out. I got a set like this: Amazon.com: Mayhew 60000 Dominator Hook and Pick Set, 4-Piece: Home Improvement Just a Snap-On version...

    M103A3 (M105) Brake Light Issue

Yep, as written above. Grounds. Do you have the star washers on both bolts of both lights? They really do make a difference. You want to freak yourself out, try this. Loosen the mounting bolts, have only a single wire out of the 4 hooked up. Then, turn on whatever that wire is. There is...
