    Hard to find deuce parts

    I dought you will find a single supplier for every part on a Deuce. With them being 40+ years old and being removed from military inventory, most parts suppliers no longer need to stock parts. Memphis Equipment or Boyce may be your best bet. Also on many parts used will be your only option.

    going back to 24v

    You should have ~14.5v on each alternator when running. Check the very top fuse (heater fuse) on the fuse block. It controls the excitor circuit for GEN1. also remove and clean the 2pin connector at the alternator. Have you checked the voltages at that connector with the key off and the key on?
