    Salvage Yard Field Piece

It would behoove you to remind the gentleman that if it's on his property, and not the VFW's, some would consider that to be possession of stolen property. For anyone who has the contact number, it might be a good thing, to save the field piece from rotting away in his field, to contact the...

    Salvage Yard Field Piece

IF IT BELONGS TO THE VFW - it belongs to Uncle Sam. Don't touch it with a 10-foot pole.

idea - directory/map of surplus and vehicle dealers

I had an idea while I was tinkering around with finding dealers for ALICE pack parts I needed recently - why not have a place on the website with a directory or map of surplus dealers, stores, mail order places, MV dealerships, etc., that could be added to by anyone? It used to be that every...

    identify this genset please

Saw this on CL, trailer mounted but it sure doesn't look like a MEP-003. Perhaps a gas unit? This looks 1960s era, I'm unfamiliar with gensets that old....

DH, with his KY jelly covered hands, flew like greased lightning and beat me typing the correct answer.

    Tank Engine ID

Continental AV1790, 12-cylinder air-cooled, used in the earlier M48 and M60 series Patton tanks of the 1960s prior to their replacement with modern diesel power packs. Here's a pic of the same engine above, as restored by the American Armored Foundation Tank Museum (pic from Wikipedia)...

    PRC-77 Radio Check

6-meter ham bands are 50.0 - 54.0 MHz, so you can tune around and listen for someone on those frequencies as well. 50.0 to 50.1 is CW only (Morse code) so you might be lucky and hear some dots and dashes on those. Be sure you have a good battery or a AM-2060 amplifier to power your rig....

Ramsey PTO winch on M38 jeep

I have heard that there were a choice few M38 jeeps (not A1s) that had Ramsey-made PTO winches installed at the factory, along with a dual-output T-case to go along with it. Anyone have pics or information about this item?

So are CUCV's metric or not?

Only my deuces, trailers, and the M37 are SAE size only. My LMTV, according to the manual, has a mix, and the Durango I have as a daily driver has a mix. Apparently, regardless of the "system's" desire to change to metric only, they haven't as of yet. I have the tools to use both, but the...

What are M416B1 trailers selling for these days?

Regular M416 trailers are worth between $300 and $1000 depending on condition (obviously $300 is a trailer that is usable but needs help, $1K would be a restored variant). I'd add 50% for the B1 type trailer to any of the above numbers, for similar conditions.

    Flat Bed Trailer ID

It may have been utilized as a transport trailer for containers or mobile homes in it's life. Looks life you will have to remove that weird box looking thing on the gooseneck, as well as the rear "ramp" on the back of the trailer, plus mount some proper military wheels and tires. Deck could...

    Flat Bed Trailer ID

It would be great to save it for those lucky few that have an M819 wrecker/tractor to tow it. If he plans to scrap, go from scrap value and work your way up. I'd say $1500 as a good starting point. I believe the 813 and a dolly can get it home safely, provided you don't go too fast and take...
