Great, thanks. The idea that I can still have both (with the use of a valve) is definately something to think about. I don't anticipate using the winch but, if I don't have to sacrifice it for a hoist......... Awesome, thanks.
Well, I am not sure they had it on properly since they only had two of the six on there, but they had a long bolt with a washer on the head, followed by a spring about six inches long, then another washer. All that was below the bottom tab. The bolt then came up through the bottom tab through...
Has anybody thought of or added a hoist to a dropside bed on a 925? I don't think I will ever use the winch but I could really use a hoist under the bed to create a dump bed. It looks like the bed is strong enough but I don't know about the hydraulics. It doesn't look like it would be too tough...
Bed attachment on 86 925
When I picked up my 925 it had two bolts holding the bed on! They were about 6 inches long with coil springs. In this picture you can see the attachement tabs. I have put three inch bolts in them (6 total) and no springs. It may have affected the flexability of the bed...
When I brought my M925 back from Riley, my brother in law was with me. He was in the Army for 23 years as a sargent in the motor pool. He is quite familiar with these trucks and tires. When we started out it was pretty bumpy. He told me they do that for a bit till they warm up and after that, if...
I went to Napa and they had two bottle types, the 1 inch is the bottle you want. It is $50 at Napa. Don't have a part number but as was stated earlier, just tell them you want a ether bottle and when they ask which size, tell them one inch.
Thanks Wheelspinner, when I put the number starting with 6 in the napaonline site it says they won't ship it to me but when I put the number starting with 3 in it they will! That's the way to go! Appreciate it.
I found out first hand how important a good spare is! I blew my front left tire bringing my 925 home from Ft. Riley. I would HIGHLY suggest you get the proper mounted tire, lug wrench, bottle jack, etc. Otherwise if something happens you are going to have a hard time finding one on short notice...
Seemed like it did, though it was an out of the box item. Can't find it now anyway! I wonder why NAPA quoted me $95 and wheelspinner's order was $55! I called them back and they confirmed it at $95.
Now THAT's funny - on ME! Don't see why you couldn't. The walk around would be interesting. Wonder what the DOT person would do with a front drive axle? I won't be on their pre-trip inspection.
My $.02, when I called the MO DOT about stopping at scales they said, "Don't do it." She also told me not to buy a trip permit. The lady said, if you buy a permit, you are going to be required to abide by commercial regulations. As a private owner, not for hire, I was not required to buy a...
It has been a number of years since I took my test but I don't THINK you can use a straight truck to take a class A CDL. You can a class B but if I remember correctly Class A requires a trailer. It has been over 20 years since I took my test though so keep that in mind.
I have a 1986 925 and the turn signals are not working. Can anybody tell me where I can buy the part that causes the turn signal to flash (sorry, don't know what to call it!) Someone told me it was a thermal something or other (non technical terms :-D ) I am in the KC area. Thanks in advance.
