IIRC when I changed mine I had the same issue. I slipped an open end wrench over the nut and used a cheater to bend the line slightly, that is ever so slightly! Nut lined up and viola! I tightened it up sans any cuss words. YMMV
IIRC The grey wire is for the light for your voltmeter. It appears it pulled out of the socket next to the black wire, if Im looking at your pic correctly
Yep your dash and seats are the cause. Hot environment, and a lot of UV will send out the gasses. Mine was so bad it looked like film on the inside of the glass
I live in NM at 7200' It routinely gets in the teens and 20s in the AM. My M1008 has some old GPs and it starts with a little more cranking. If I let the glow plugs cycle a few times it helps. Some mornings I throw a halogen shop light under the hood to heat up the block and batteries. Helps a...
I bought a rebuild kit for my pump.....worthless. Bought a fluid bottle and pump from an 1987 K30 salvage. In 87 the pump is combined with the bottle. Bypassed the old pump and used the wiring to hook up the new pump bottle combo. Works great!

Add a little more wire to the power harness (positive-negative leads). Its a little too short for servicing if you are going to mount it next to the voltage gauge. YMMV
I know several CUCVs have "DO NOT STEAM CLEAN ENGINE" stenciled inside the engine compartment. I figured it was for most of the 19 YOA GIs dont know any better and would hose the relays, alternators, and intake. But is there another reason why?
Members feelings, experiences cleaning the engine...

When i threw the tires and rims on the truck I didnt really look at the tread....I noticed they were different when I took the pics...It rides, steers, and drives like a scalded dog!
When you are at the AF museum check out the Korean FAC exhibit. My dad was a TACP (Mosquitos) in 1952-53 . The radio jeep exhibit is supposed to be pretty good!
Just checking to see if any members have used oil analysis on their CUCV.
For those unfamiliar with oil analysis it is used in aircraft engines/turbines to determine if the engine is failing (iron, metal deposits) A sample of the oil is sent to lab for analysis on a routine schedule. The follow...
