Well for my M1009 transmission anyway.
As the weather gets cold enough to make my belts squeal until the engine warms up, I notice that the Blazer does not move when put into gear right away. During cold weather the Blazer takes a few minutes to build pressure or I don't know what, before the...
I never changed the calipers and the rubber seals do look like original. I ordered a set of calipers from NAPA and will try to get them on tomorrow. Thanks for the tip.
My M1009 Blazer started squealing in the front passenger pad the other day. I hoped it would go away because I just put in new pads 2 weeks ago. Two days later, they were still at it.
I pulled the squealers out and found this. The brake pads were literally falling apart. There was a hairline...
Been looking in CUCV forum- not in sticky. Not In TM thread or FAQ search. I had one printed up but lost it. You know the one with brake parts, oil filters, etc.
Thanks for the replies. I installed the rebuilt. They did a great job as expected. Even put a fresh coat of black on it. I dropped off my original heater core. I guess I should swap it in asap- beats having to do it in the winter.
What have y'all paid for a H-core rebuild?
black oil in radiator lines?
Related to my radiator failing. When I pulled the lines from the radiator, on the passenger side, the lowest one bled some pretty black oil.
This was from the stainless steel line. So I'm guessing an aux oil cooler. Are these reliably flushed. The radiator is at the...
By me anyway. I ran it over to my favorite AC/Radiator shop. They called me to say there were multiple problems that should be addressed. I inquired new or rebuild of him. He said I wouldn't find this quality today. Definitely rebuild. Quote: $254.00. I know they'll do a great job. I'm taking my...
For a while now every time I start cold (in the morning) my M1009 something squeals if I give her any pedal. Checked my belts, all new and correct/tight. When I let her warm up for 4 o5 minutes, it goes away. Anyone have an idea what does this?
See this thread. For what you'd spend on new covers or new upholstery and the asprin for the headache the fitment will give you, you can score replacement seats at the wrecking yard from a S-10 blazer and dye them with excellent results. They are the same seats- just keep looking until you find...
So I'll head over to the u-pick yard and see how much I have to buy (the whole roof, or any part and get charged by the linear ft or whatever. I read here that 2K epoxy primer is what I should use to keep rust from attacking the inside of the welds?
Also watched a youtuber say he used POR 15...
Cucvnut, thanks for the offer. My brother is loaning me his shop to stay out of the rain while I get the repair done. He has a welder I can use, but I do appreciate it. We'll have to get together though, maybe we can get coffee next week.
Zout, after hearing you out about the glass company...
I put the windshield back in myself, It took about an Hour- I got lucky and the sun had been shining on most of it for an hour. It will probably pour water inside if it rains, so until I get a welder from my brothr's house, I'll have to cover it. I used a crab pick from Joe's Crabshack to seat...
The SafeLite guy is here replacing cracked windshield. There was a small leak on and off over the years and I neglected it. So now it looks like I'll pay.
He found rust at the top of the windshield- passenger side. It's flaky and a little spongy. He won't warranty it if he leaves the new...
I like the look of a well crafted snorkel. I think I'd put one on if it was really cool in appearance (not dismissing anyone's efforts here) just because they look bad@ss. I'm really not too confident that I'd want to run through deep water just because I have one- guess I'm afraid of all the...
I replaced the rubber vacuum lines about 3 years ago. New modulator as well. I cleaned the glass ball in the valve on the IP yesterdays and had another look at the modulator. No drip when the rubber hose was removed, so I assume it is good. What I did find was a loose fitting rubber hose- it was...
Yesterday before my P/S pump bracket broke on me I noticed the shift points were not where they usually are. First gear wound out a long time, and then shifted hard. Second to third was the same way- I wondered if it would ever go into third. At first I thought it was the modulator- but I put a...
Clackamas, OR.
I installed the welded bracket this morning. All went well. Thanks for your input. Here's a couple of notes on removing the power steering pump to replace the bracket:
Remove all battery cables- you'll have to pull the alternator and you don't want any surprises.
The belt is...
I had to leave my Blazer at my little brother's house yesterday. I looked up the part and found a nice list of 50+ applications. I was going to look in the local boneyard this morning, but jus got a call from my brother saying he welded it up already. I hope he did a good job... his model cars...
