    Power steering pump bracket question

Found my p/S bracket had bust 2 out of three mounting ears today- I know it has to be neglect :-?. The pulley had to be pulled, HF for a $20 kit. Worked good. Where can I get an OEM or better bracket?

TreadWright Tires - Anyone run them here?

Treadwright Tires update. I just got back from the tirestore. Had to put two new goodrich tires on. The Guard Dogs were checking deep along the weld where it meets the old casing. Driver's rear had taken to leaking fast. Drove into Advance 90 minutes later and $355 poorer I had the tires...

    M1009: Winch recommendations / ideas?

Look around on this forum, seems there was a guy with a trick WARN that went in between and behind the front bumper mounts. He explained it pretty well IIRC. I've got that project on the short list. Just before #7: Add bottom thrusters from a Harrier Jet for easier parking, and those pesky gated...

NEW CUCV PART. the answer to dead batteries on the CUCV

I love it, but I'll bet you come out from Arby's and find some landscaper trying to fire it up.

Does Coolant Circulate Thru Heater Core at All Times?

Yup, I'm with Skinny. Do it now, your cold feet will thank you. I have a bit of a write up on my post about the HC R&R. It reads and sounds more difficult than it is. If you have an OEM core and it looks half-way decent. See if you can find a shop to refurb it. I don't know for the life of me...

    Windshield Wiper Same Speed

howardc, thanks for the post and link. Bookmark or print and fold into the manual:beer:. I just wanted to add a little tip I learned a few years ago when I was replacing an engine and the hood had to come off. Get 1/2 dozen cheap 1/8" bits at the hardware store. Drill TWO holes a few inches...

    Nice RACK!

Mine has been on since just after this original post date. I have hauled a ninety pound mobiflex crew tent, and 4 Scepter Jerrys of diesel. I left the bolt long on the inside, then cut and hemmed a piece of Heavy Drab Duck to hang between the rearmost 4 bolts. I use it as a catch-all for light...

Grinding and growling noise in transmission or rear differential???

Is your transfer case shifter adjusted right. The nut can work itself loose and then it'll slip and grind. The TM shows the linkage. It is easy to check.

    Starter driving me nuts!!

I ordered a Wilson 28MT 24V from Schucks after having bad luck with the $100 *bay Chinese model. Real heavy-duty. Comes with a shim that you should use- don't ask... Real reliable cranking. See my posts w/ Wilson in the search for the part number.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Was hunting on Saturday. Left camp to get some diesel for my SHS Tent Heater. The lake resort nearby didn't sell it. Drove 20 miles downhill to town. Around mile 18 I began to hear the passenger rear brake grinding. I figured the shoes. I had tools but not enough to do brakes in the field...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

My oil cooler lines have been weeping since last Winter. They are shot near the couplers that join the radiator lines. I bought the rubber lines from NAPA. I READ THE TM. The fix looks hard and messy and is only a little of each. Get an oil pan, rags, creeper, box wrenches: 15/16", 3/4", 7/8"...

    1/4 turn top snaps

Ace hardware by my house had them. Xenocath, like me, bough a bunch from the factory.. Check ACE first. There are various mounting options: Rivet type- need special tool, screw-in- self-threading, and screw-in- machine type. I bought mine from Scolille. Here is a picture of what I have. How many...

    Soft Top anyone?

I thought about these as well; but I ended up seeing more cons than pros- for me. Security being the biggest concern. Though we all know if someone wants whats inside bad enough, they will get in, having a top that can be breached with a knife slice doesn't work for me. I feel that having all...

    Rear brake help

If I recall, the last time I wrestled with drums a light came on in my head that said release the emergency brake. Chocked the wheels and the drums came right off.

    M1009 Tailgate crank

85CUCVtom: Here is the link to what I posted on my fix experience. http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?54524-What-have-you-done-to-your-CUCV-today-lately-Part-1&p=1188525. To day I installed a new rear window regulator in my Blazer. The handle finally gave out and would not roll the...

    M1009 rear window slips still.

Try running a bead of glazier's butyl in the channel. Clean every mating surface. It's like PolyGrip for glass. Be careful, this stuff sticks to everything.

Safe to leave key in on position?

Skinny, why? The cards are hard to come by, and somewhat delicate to be messing with when there is an ACC position. True, you'll have to add a fuse box; but that is pretty easy, and you can restore it to OEM at will. Besides, the whole purpose of having an ACC position to run a radio/com is so...

    M1009 Tailgate crank

If you are blowing parts out regularly, if the glass is a 8!@+¢# to crank up and down, or it slips, taking forever to raise the glass, then it's time to open the tailgate panel and do some maintenance. Order a window regulator- all the online GM suppliers carry it. Make notes, take pictures and...

    M1009 Tailgate crank

one for auction on the Bay. Look up: 1973-1991 BLAZER JIMMY TAILGATE CABLES AND These are the chrome ones. I bought mine at 1a or someplace. To get a good non-polished finish, I sanded down with a flexible sanding block and the used deglosser/self-etching primer and then 383. Maybe someone...
