Pretty much the stance I'm looking for on the right.
Crossover because I've seen so many K series trucks with cracked frames from limited or no trail use. I don't care for it as much for handling but I'm partial to keeping my steering box connected to the frame.

I do have a turbo crossover, I didn't think about that. I'm ordering my crossover steering kit from ORD, I'll have to ask if the regular kit will clear.

Yeah, l usually just eyeball it. If you really wanted to I suppose you could use the brakes to slow it down.

Less safe but lift the back wheels and put in drive works too if the new ujoints are already in. Use stands, not a jack and a helper.

Up only. If that's the kit I'm thinking of (makes the tranny fully manual) downshifting will cause damage to the sprag from it freewheeling.
Great for drag cars, not so good for on the street and towing.
Nevermind, I looked up the kit. That's just a shift kit, so really doesn't help here...
If I get another 30 years from the new stuff, I'll call it a win. You can keep patching yours as long as you like.

****. I've turbo'ed mine but the most I've pulled is about 7500-8000 lbs across the Mississippi river bridge in Baton Rouge (only hill worth mentioning here). Was able to hold about 40mph without a problem. Stopping on the other hand..... that was a trick!
