Hi all, I plan on doing the nv4500 swap/turbo install on my m10008. I have scoured this site and many others for info and have a pretty good handle on what is needed. The only thing I am unsure of is which years pedal assembly will work. I have found a 93 3500 with the 6.5 and 5 speed for $1500...
Thanks, mine does shift hard at times. Not as bad now after fixing the vacuum line. Going to check the line on the tranny and replace the modulator on that end if it's easy enough.
Runs perfect now. When it was acting up it would run normal at a stop and I could blip the throttle with no problems. Only acted up when getting back on it at highway speeds. No problems since I cut the bad vacuum line out. I have a screw on fuel filter waiting to put on as the stock filter was...
Thanks. It shifts smooth and at appropriate speeds. Runs like a top except the quirky thing yesterday at highway speeds when letting off the throttle. Can anyone confirm the vacuume modulator in the IP would or not affect my ability to BRRRRAAAP!
Thanks. Definitely have to replace everything rubber on this thing. Good to know about the modulator on the tranny itself. Do you know if the modulator on the IP would kill the fuel supply if there were a vac leak?
So while driving my panty melter to work yesterday if I let off the throttle to coast when I got back on it it had no response for like 3 seconds then bang it would kick back on. It happened every time I let off. If I rolled to a stop it would idle fine and take off like normal. After work I...
Bypassed the resistor(don't plan on ever using the slave) @30 degrees this morning the glow plugs only came on for a few seconds and it fired right up like it was a warm engine. Problem solved and potential future problem eliminated ahead of time. Happy camper here thought I had a fuel problem.
I found that The glow plug resistor was only being fed with 12v rather than 24. Bypassed it and it fired right up after sitting for four hours. We will see how it starts after sitting all night soon.
10-4 ! I did not know resistors only work under load but it would explain why the voltage would drop to 6v when glow plugs were on. Just kinda figured they pulled that much load to cause a voltage drop. Thanks Marcus. Much appreciated.
Isolated the battery's and tested them after 12 hours of no fun time and they tested good. The previous owner told me to hold it to the floor when cold but I noticed it starts quicker if I don't and the cold high idle only works if I don't. Is there actually a recommended throttle procedure for...
While trying to diagnose a hard start problem I decided to bypass the glow plug resistors. Before doing so I took a voltage reading on it. I found that it only had 12V feeding it from the first battery in series. I believe it should be fed with 24v (correct me if I'm wrong). The wierd thing is...
I put brand new ac delco 60G's in it yesterday
new air filter
battery's test good
thing runs awesome once started and doesn't appear to be getting air in the lines.
just seems like if it was a lift pump or injector pump it would run like crap
Good idea. Considering a cheapo low pressure inline electric pump just to use for priming when changing filter and or mechanical pump as I have read the replacement pumps aren't what they used to be.
The starter spins faster than any other I have ever heard (like a 6V being jumped with 12V) but I will check them in the AM anyway. Would be stoked if it were that simple. Thanks for the reply.
I am having issues with cold starts. It takes a rediculous amount of cranking to start if it sits for more than a half hour but fires right up and runs awesome if started sooner. The original fuel filter has been removed by previous owner and has a small inline filter. The line from the filter...
Bumping an old post to help those who are looking for help now. The aftermarket aluminum heater cores leave a 1/4" gap on both sides of the core letting cold air pass by them rather than through them. I used the foil heating duct tape to close off the leak and it makes a huge difference.
