I've seen Elise's "She Beast" like this many, many times on our Dirt Track Trip
One time climbing down into a major wash, I saw it (in my mirror) leaning so far that all I could think was . . . DON'T STOP! . . . DON'T STOP!! . . . DON'T STOP!!!
Her rig is currently singled w/ stock 900x20'...
Someone's got to be going out before that, . . . but that's another thread.
That was home :driver: 30 years of travel and living in diff rigs.
Seems that the hose coming up from the in-tank pump was not tight w/ the factory clamp (on both trucks). Replaced that clamp w/ a standard hose...
Was trying to get us back in time to drop somethings and continue on the the camp, . . . didn't roll in till Sunday.
I was really wanting to drop this 105, after 1500 miles of dirt track, and do some trails w/o it..
So . . . when's the next trail riding happening
Sounds like I may have experienced the same thing, Wrote about it in detail here; WMO & Surging
The thing that made the greatest dif, after new filters, was to tighten the hose from the pump to the top of the tank. It was lose in both of the trucks at the top/factory clamp.
So this is the latest on the fuel issues of the "She Beast",
Just ran two more tanks of WMO through her while we were crossing a few more mountain ranges and putting another 400 miles on the odometer. She has been running GREAT!
I would say that it was the hose from the in-tank pump being loose...
What's a BBC pump . . . Big Block Chevy, I get it.
I've not tried to use it to push though filters . . . but it should. It does on the motor.
I've been using a 24 volt diaphram pump for filtering. It lets me do it anywhere we are parked. The sbc pump is running on AC till I can get it changed...
At this point not really sure. I've just added that on to the trailer and used some cheap garden hose to test it . . . the hose collapses when I'm sucking up thick oil.
Today we dropped about $100 on some hose that will stand up to fuel and (hopefully) will not collapse.
Won't be drawing any...
Have the same set up. My prob is that I'm not sure what pick-up hose to use that can handle the type of fuels and not collapse under suction. Would like to be able to run a long pick-up hose. Have tried a few things and I keep getting sections sucked flat. Would also like to NOT spend HUGE...
Thanks for the input, It made me do lots more reading and researching TM's. Seems like when the pump is at it's stock depth (15.1", which makes it almost on the bottom) the running out of fuel happens around < 2". I just added almost an 1 1/2" to that . . . not really what I wanted to do. I was...
I pulled the pump out the other day, sounds easy doesn't it? It's held in w/ 10 phillips headed screws. 6 of those came out easy, 3 were a bit of a challenge, 1 just rounded out!
I had to turn an old screwdriver into a cold chisel, get a groove into the side of the screw head, and tap for a...
Put my pump in her tank!? Don't know where that thing has been!
The ground has been cleaned. I mounted some other ground line in the same place when I was running the wiring for the box.
I did go out for some driving today. Did about 75 miles, city streets, dirt roads, high rpms for...
I did think of that as well, the thing that dropped it farther down the "list of things to check" was that it would happen at all most the same amount of time from the start of driving. Not just some random amount of time.
I did put one on the bleeder, but not when it was running  that...
It's a mystery to every one. Have been talking about it here. Even spent some time on the phone w/ Jack of "Jack's in Tucson".
I still want to cross three more mountain ranges before we start back that way ;) Hey, if Brother Will would help us troubleshoot it I would greatly appreciate it...
I don't know that it is. It looks dif from the one that I pushed out of the back of mine.
Mine 280 looks more like an oversized footlocker. Square, edged, w/ corners. It also has skids under it and rings on the upper corners for lifting, and on the lower for pulling.
Think I might have some photos,
The fuel line under the rad is great, no probs there. I have changed the filters a few times, like I said in the first post, changed the primary twice the first day that it happened and changed the others as well. It made no change to what it's doing.
It runs great when I first start it and for...
